I was noticing the plunge of the buying power of the € euro ($1.05 for €1 the other day) and it reminded me i needed to sub (though the new baby is still taking up all my time anyway...)

I looked at the sub rates since €45 should now be slightly less than $48. However the premium page still says $61

Is there a new bug that is causing the rate displayed to remain static despite the drop in currency value?

Checking my paypal history the prices do not look to have changed over the past few years. I did see a slight change(buck or two) in price prior to 2013.

It is what it is, it always seems to stay at "around" 5 bucks a month for the best deal no matter what the currency is currently trading at. Less headaches that way most likely.

From the outside looking in I do agree the current us sub prices do seem a bit high for the age of the game.

Before steam the US price fluctuated based on the Euro value. I think it even says so on the sub page.

I'm just wondering if there is a bug that is now not adjusting the US rate or what? Because if I choose to pay in Euros rather than dollars PayPal will hit me for a conversion fee but it would still be less than if I paid the current $61 US rate since 45 Euros is only $47.70. (1.06 euros to the dollar today)

Not a gripe about pricing as much as a concern about a bug

can't you just choose to pay in euros? there is a check box for it...

Yes that can be done.

In fact that's what I did.

Counting the $2.50 additional fee charged by PayPal to change dollars into Euros it cost $49.92

Point being: I shouldn't have to outthink the system. Some would claim that's "gaming the system" although in this case I see it more as "not getting cheated by the glitch in the system"

Best guess is that the coding needed for Steam caused the dollar rate to be frozen in time to the conversion rate we had upon release. This glitch could lead to bad feelings by people who got nabbed for an added $12 and got screwed out of 4 months worth of paid game time
