Would a boxed version be considered? Nekro managed to hit its goal partially thanks to the announcement of a boxed version (its pledges jumped around $5K several hours after they announced a boxed version).

OH great stretch goal. I would love a manual and CD. Also early beta access would be a nice pledge tier.

Box/manual: would be nice... I'll have to look into the cost.
Early beta access: definite. With private access to a forum where the development can be discussed/influenced.

I know someone on BGG who does printouts for board games. Quite professional too. I'm not sure if he does video games, but you can check out his materials here:

Me too. As long as the price is reasonable, say, $100-$110 for an old-school big box + manual + nice freebies (map? miniature?) + DRM-free assurance, I'd be more than willing to pay for it.

Manual cost depends on whether the game mainly has an in-game tutorial like most seem to go for these days. This means the manual is basically just instructions for installing the game.

A nice manual with the look and feel of a wastelands manual would cost more, but look and feel so much better.

Either way I'd be willing to help with this if we want to keep it "internal" though it would mean a lot of firming up of information compared to the current game/wiki :)

I think there's something to be said for "flavor" instruction manuals. To this day the instruction manual for Fallout is my favorite: it was loaded with art, backstory and funny quips to keep you interested through the otherwise dull instructions.

Again I might not be in the majority here, but a good manual has a great deal of sway over my appreciation of a game.

A manual with some back story and some excerpts from the gazette. I remember early on, reading the story of someone just making it to the gates GW truckstop. The story was well written with plenty of tension. It really hooked me into the game as I could visualize the story and put the fear of the south into a newbie.

^Right, like Wasteland. It's got a great manual, with a lot of background information behind the game.

Wouldn't "Tales of Wasteland" served that purpose as well?

yup, a copy of that in the box. You could have a normal set, and then a collectors edition, good for sales. Release it 3 months after everyone has finished buying the first one (man those companies are evil! Evil I say, I don't want to have to buy the Witcher collectors set (or do I), and then now Witcher 2 collectors set which looks awesome (which I still have not played), I even think it comes with one of that dudes novels .. and of course, dice.

Yep, putting in 'Tales from the Wasteland' as a reward had occurred to me :-)
Actually Fifth's really awesome 'Brooke's Tale' would almost carry itself as a novella alone.

I like the idea of miniatures. Alot of times in the past I have bought games for the PC because of the miniatures. 2300ad I think one was called. I think 3 to 5 DW cars in maybe 1:285 scake or even CW counter sized 1/2 x 1 inch cars... To snag the CWers who want to use the minis for CW. The accursed Polt, the Mantis, maybe a Stormer and some others.

What I found most enticing with manuals were the technical specs. Anyone remember M1 Tank Platoon manual? (the original early 1990's one... Not the lousy sequel) I no longer have the game, but I still have the manual. Next best thing to Jane's Arms and Armor.

And maps (hand painted then art print on matte) are a huge draw for me.
