Hattie drew another bulky box from her backpack and turned a few knobs. She waved the wand of the Geiger counter over the water. The counter`s strange clicking indicated a low level of radiation. Relatively low at least- within the level Dr. Mathias was looking for. Hattie pulled a dozen bottles out of the wooden box and filled them with the water. She also scraped a quantity of salts from the rim of the pool, just to make sure it had the chemicals he wanted. Hattie barely pulled her hand away in time. As she bent over the water, a white, spiny, three-eyed froglike creature about the size of a pumpkin burst out of the water, its many toothed jaws clamping at the air where her hand had been. She gasped and scrabbled up the slope, breaking one bottle as she sought to avoid the beast. It slid back into the water rather than keep up the chase. Gasping for air, Hattie saw that the beast lurked just below the scum on the surface of the pool, and was very hard to see. But now she knew where it was. Hattie went back up to the car and rummaged through her gear, selecting a long pole and some rope. She quickly rigged a makeshift catchpole, and about 5 minutes later had secured the disgusting creature and stowed it in the Royal Taxi`s trunk. Hattie couldn`t believe her luck...first the pool, and then a creature that Doc could use in his traveling menagerie and sideshow! Cackling with glee, she pranced a bit as she walked around to the driver`s side. Thats when she heard the low purr of engines.  Hattie jumped into the Voyager and had it moving before the door was closed. Those damned Arachnids thought they had her in the web, creeping up on all sides slow and quiet... but they hadn`t seen her driving now had they? She wasn`t called `Mad` for nothing... Horace `Hunter` Hook, youngest and most promising scout of Canis Lupus stopped his Vampire by the pool where the woman had been. He looked around, all the Archanids have given chase. He grinned to him self, heh didn`t know her name but he had seen her drive. They had no chance of catching her else he would have followed to lend a hand. Arachnids, Bastards he thought to himself. He spat in the pool. What had she been looking for? It was then he noticed a Rad-Frog, under the surface of the water. It had notice the disturbance and was investigating his spit. Surely she wasn`t out here for one of those? He removed the Eagle from its resting place in the waist band of his jeans, aimed and fired. The water turned green wth the blood of the creature. Surely she knew these things had acidic spit ? He Reached for his pocket and took out his battered sunglasses he had found that day they looted all those Lasers from the old Military base. He put them on and looked around, nothing, shes probably still leading that pond scum a merry dance he thought. I better get back to Dexters and try and warn her before she gets a face full of spit. Shame he thought, one of the prettier faces he had seen of the Wasteland crew. Still that wasn`t saying a lot. He sat back in his car and sped for Somerset. Dr. Mathias grimaced as he wrapped a bandage around his hand. He frowned at Hattie as she shrugged in an apologetic manner. `Well now... we can`t have that now can we? We don`t want that ugly creature spitting on the customers!.` Dr. Mathias looked over his striped waistcoat to make sure it didn`t have any burns. He then sat back, propped his legs on the desk and pulled on his curled handlebar moustache. `Hmmm... too bad Bonesaw got killed a few months ago...he could have removed that thing`s poison gland with no problem. Ah well.` `Hattie, send word to Elmsfield that I want one of them to pick up some surgical technique... someone other than Winnifred, who I hear has barely learned to check for a pulse.` He looked across the room at the Rad-Frog, which sat trapped under a very large glass bell jar.
