I've been trying to change a vehicle's name, but without success. I click the vehicle name, get the pop up, enter a new name in the box under the picture of the vehicle in question and press Change Name. Then the pop-up flickers and goes blank, and when I open it from the list again the name hasn't changed.

While trying to figure out what I may have been doing wrong I've noticed that the Change Name button in the pop-up is of a different format to the other buttons such as the ones for changing tags, auto-configuring and assigning drivers, all of which work for me.

I've tried using both Firefox and IE to change the name in case there was some plug-in blocking a script, but still nothing works, so I'm kinda thinking I'm missing a simple but important step somewhere.

Do you have any advice?

Something simple to check... Do you have pop-ups blocked for some reason?

I think it might be the case that you can't rename a car unless you are a subscriber. But a message to that effect would certainly be nice.

When you do...or are...subscribed...you can also just hit the ENTER key instead of mousing onto the 'change name' button...much easier.

...see ya out there...eventually.

Just tried with and without pop-up blocking in both browsers. Same result.

This could well be it...

I've just tried that and it has the same results as clicking the button, so I guess that's just a normal function of submitting the form.

So, is anyone (*sam*?) 100% certain that renaming vehicles is a subscriber only thing? Jety's idea does make perfect sense...

I shall go check non-subbers gangs for named vehicles in the mean time.

Thanks all.

Would you settle for 99% certain? :)

AFAIK, renaming vehicles is a subscriber-only thing. The only troubles I've ever seen reported in this regard have been from non-subscribers.

OK then. My mind is starting to rest. :D

I wasn't even overly concerned with actually naming the vehicle permanently as tags work fine for what I'm gonna do with it (cannibalise), but you know what it's like when you get a bee in your bonnet about something. Plus I like to poke around and try everything.

I'll second Jety's suggestion for the inclusion of an error/warning message.

i think that's incorrect. as a nonsub, i was always able to rename my vehicles. This was very important in scouts in which I more than one person had rental vehicles, so that there wouldn't be two vehicles named 'Borrowed' that could have caused confusion.

Lonan, this is a very strange problem that you have. Can you try this from someone else's computer.

I've actually tried it from my Debian lappy too in case it was something system level, unfortunately with the same result - no dice.

Yeah, it was set up as a subscriber-only feature. I can't recall any particular reason for that, so I have changed it so anyone can rename their cars.

Was it done to protect the innocent from offensively named vehicles ( or is there a filter anyway )

Lonan...... Based on your gang (Name) Avatar/numbers you NEED to go scout down south in the Badlands area and find one of these!

If you find a Roadrunner, get a hold of me and I'll paint it to match this picture!.... Notice the 3 7's on the wing upright? The paint job is called "Tigerbird-Lucky-7"

The 7's look correct on the other side view.

Hah... I wasn't aware you could do custom paint jobs. Things just keep getting cooler.

I read the wiki entry for that chassis and it sounds like a monster. I shall have to give it a squirt around a test track sometime.

Not too sure on the 'real world' use of these things but I envision it being a bad-ass racer and maybe even a VIP transport.

Looking forward to snagging one one-day to find out!

There are currently only 2 "stock" versions of the Roadrunner that you could test out.

The "Speedbird" runs a 4L engine with Nitro boost.... This is a stock racer.

AND

The "FlameRunner" has a 3.2L V8 (I think) and flamethrowers for Deathraces.

These cars require some VERY good handling skills when they are up at racing speeds..... In excess of 150 mph on some of the longer tracks.
