i believe you will find that whilst i may be annoying i am completely rational. I am also possibly the Darkwind player most qualified to tell you whether an argument is rational or not. I believe the problem is probably (as is so often the case) with the understanding of complex rational thought by the multitudes of ill educated sheep rather than the lack of rationalism in the argument.

If you dont understand something its probably best to start from the basis that you have gaping holes in your knowledge than to dismiss it as irrational. If we did it the other way round there would be no means to further human knowledge.

PS. I think that place is more likely to be Caps than mine. Shanty towns and poverty are the direct product of capitalist behaviours. I am wondering when the good doctor might get around to making a communist utopia map  B)

He told me that he's been fervently working on it but he's having problems with the animated pedestrian sprites. I guess the chains which bind their bare feet together are proving to be difficult to animate.

I can just see it now, if a player was able to run shantyville, every hour we would get spammed:

Sam, would it be possible to trickle the initial stocks of uncommon/rare equipment in to Texan as opposed to the first past the post grabs the lot situation we had in Sarsfield?

Seconded.  Or maybe Thirded after Goat.

Dumping everything in initially rewards those with the wealth and resources to exploit the opportunity.  The uncommons and rares go to those that need them the least.

Which is a disincentive to smaller operators who might say, "Why bust my chops trying to get there.  All the good stuff is already gone."

Sure, there is the joy of exploring new territory.  But, it would be a lot more joyful, if the exploration was being done in a couple of brand new buzzers with Heavy Lasers.

It does not matter to me either way, but I do find this request somewhat flawed to trickle down the goods.

If you do not have the money or the resources to take the expedition to Texan or any other town, what are you doing down south to begin with? All southern towns were created for vets, not newer players or small operators with minimal resources.

I was not aware Darkwind was turning into socialist economy so the little guy gets his fair share of goods because he/she does not have the same resources as other players in the game.

Just because I or other established players may not need the goods in other towns, does not mean I won’t need them in the new town. Why should a rich player be forced to ship in the goods to scout from that town because the small operator or cash strapped player does not have the goods at all? So it’s ok for the cash deprived player to get a fair chance at the goods so he can charge me what he thinks the item is worth at the new town? What makes him need the goods more than me in a new town?

If a player accomplishes something like beating me to a new town, good for him if he can gets the goods before me. And no I was not even close to being first to Sarsfield.

PS: You won’t be buzzing around with Heavy Lasers, they don’t spawn in shops.

Well the problem is nothing to do with resources in fact. What it actually boiled down to with Sars was purely due to timing. If a player happens to be on when a new town goes live they have the advantage.

In deference to those who may not have as much time available for playing or are in wildly different time zones it seems fairer to give them a better shot at getting something fun for making the trip, or at least have that remain a possibility to encourage the trip in the first place.

Nine -
As I stated above, I agreed with you that the rares should spread out a bit, but I also feel that the first guy or two that actualy makes it there first should also get something for their efforts. I was third getting to Sars, behind Shark and Darth. I was working nights, and just happened to wake up in the early daytime and grabbed my laptop, while still in bed, and observed that Sars went live. I immediately grabbed a travel car, loaded in one of my best scouts, and shipped him out. Even being thrid, I still got a few cool things. I was mad I wasnt first, but it was still cool rolling into Sars, fighting at the gates. I proceeded to scout there for a week straight, hauling in cars, stripping them down and selling the engines, tires, and weapons off them for a huge profit. I scouted in PUs an Apache I had moved there. All in all, it worked out well because I had a great time doing it.  :D
