Sam's suggestion/to do list must be two volumes by now, and I for one often look forward to what is around the corner...

I did want to pipe in and express my undying gratitude for the 'auto configuration' options. What an awesome feature!

Also, even though it breaks my heart to see a damaged v8, I think the item degradation feature was an intelligent thing to implement as well.

P.S. When is that Sarsfield track going to show up? ;)

Yea Sam, I gotta say item degradation was a genius move on your part. This is coming from one of the biggest opponents of it when it was implemented.

And Im not much of a racer, but I have a hotrod in Sars waiting to try that new track there out...

I have to add on my thanks to a game that keeps me coming back time and time again. Sam is an outright genius if you ask me. What a unique game, and downright evil AI that constantly amazes me. Having a badlander snipe at me from a small cliff was my latest OH WOW moment with the AI. Darn thing did some pretty good damge too before I could get to it. Kudos Sam !

I like to avoid the bubbly, emotinal posts -being of an incurably cynical nature- but I have to extend a heart-felt thanks to Sam for making such an awesome game.

I categorically refused to pay a monthly fee to play online games in the past and that conviction was rock-solid. This policy still stands stong but an excception is made for Dark Wind.

RE sarsfield track - yes, DM I'll get to it soon! Sorry for delay. What I actually want to do it write a 'just-in-time' patching system for maps/tracks - currently each new map/track adds approx 1MB to the client download and makes me quite uneasy since many new players never even visit these maps. My just-in-time will (i) let me reduce the core download by several 10's of MB, and (ii) let me be more encouraging to you guys to produce new tracks and wilderness maps.

I'm guessing that means instead of an upfront download, the maps will be downloaded as-needed?

I've often described DW in hushed tones, knowing few will understand my utter devotion to this game. I have so little time, and yet I ferret out an hour or two here and there and always come away stunned at what a great game this is. Where so many games have lost the spirit of the afternoon with friends this game has actually broadened my circle of friends and kept me up well past bed time over and over.

"Well I play this game that's kinda Mad Max-ish, but it's really about growing a group of people to survive in this wasteland. What's best is that it's a giant international collaboration between a lot of people who all care about improving the experience. The solo developer, this crazy Irish genius, just keeps listening and trying new ways, and we all see our ideas come to life." that's pretty much how I describe it.

For my part I've seen amazing improvements in the overall "experience" that will only be capped by the website overhaul...and motorcycles Heh. Oh, and what about (thinking way out here) a story generation wizard? I really think the potential for DW lies trapped in our collective imaginations...just waiting to be knit together in a dynamic and every changing player-written narrative that we can all play together.

But most of all, Sam, thanks for actually doing what every one of us has wished we could have done...
