Mike: There's a large difference between spending a couple of hours a day sorting out camp details and travels to/from camp in that it doesn't have to be done all in one sitting. I might get 30 minutes 4 or more times a day to play in which I could do those things, but the uninterrupted 2-ish hours required for a large battle might be out of the question.

I've got a 2 year old daughter. There's no telling when she'll get up from her nap. Any event that I don't have any chance of ending in the very near future is an event that very well might be too long for me. On the other hand, if I finish one quick event and she's still sleeping I might go ahead and start another, knowing again that it won't be long before I'm finished.

In short, I reiterate: Requiring all camp battles to be very large simply isolates the vast majority of the community from taking part in this aspect of the game.

I agree on that one. there is not very many people who play for large amounts of time.

I have heard that the typical raid in WOW can take hours and hours , as high as 8 I've read. I'm not saying the camp raids should take that long but just an example.

Then I suppose there could be camp raids for harassment. No real damage to the camp but a few bullet holes just for the chance to say you did a raid.

I dont see a 2 or 3 vehicle camp raid really the way it should be. An attack on the camp should be by a large group, not just a few vehicles.

To be as close to reality of possible if a player wants to just buzz a camp with limited vehicles then those attacks should be considered on the cargo going back and forth to the camp. A 2 or 3 vehicle attack would have no chance of getting into a camp by the defenses so attacking the supply line would be better for the attacker because they stand a chance to actually GET something instead of circling a camp and shouting nasty words.

A camp attack would have to be large. Consider it the same as a league race. Its scheduled and there are many many participants at times PC or NPC. In the future with more people joining DW an all player race is possible. I was lucky enough to be on and there were actually enough PCs on that we made a league race an all PC race. was a blast with 28 league points to the winner.

A large group is the only one that could possibly beat camp defenses and raid the camp. so the minimum should be 15 or so. Just would make more sense that a raid on the camp itself would be large.

Perhaps the damage done to a camp by a raid could be proportional to the number of cars attacking the camp in a nearly exponential relationship. In other words: if 5 cars attack a camp and X damage is done, the amount of damage done by a 10 car attack would be more than X + X, something closer to X * X, but probably not quite to that extreme. That would help both to motivate the attacker to bring more vehicles and to reflect the amount of havoc that could be done by what was attacking.

I'll try to stop pontificating, now, until the new system begins and we get a look at how it works. . .

It will be fun Joel, but Mike is correct in saying that it will be a tough road bringing in supplies. Id be happy to give you some tips which could speed up the process a bit. Your looking at a good month to get anything decnt up and running.

joel i have a few lorrys and rgm buzzers in ssars i could staart loading them with stone and scrap drop them off for ya to start building i could put supplies in camp market for ya to but with a small markup to cover ammo and gas costs. let me know if ya want me to start shipping stuff in.

Sure thing - I need all the help I can get. I'm not sure who is at war with who right now, so forgive me if I let in your enemies lol. This Camp is gonna be neutral for as long as possible or hopefully until it is up and running at least.

Stone looks like it won't be a problem though - I think the camp can make it (after building a quarry). I gotta read through the wiki on this - i'm a little flat footed, didn't really expect to get one of the camps.

Should be alright now PT, the problem was when I forgot to set up a member record for you as owner, then you created one as 'request membership'. I added one manually but then you had two, and the older one was the 'request' one so it took precedence.
