Just before going to bed you send some travelers on their way to Elm. During the night you dream that you lost the cars because of a similar circumstance to the Bug thread “scout showed as at home, but then an encounter spawned”. I actually had the thought in my dream that I was going to have to let Sam know that I shouldn’t have lost those cars.

I have also dreamed that I was playing DW, but it was first person perspective and I was driving out in the desert looking for Pirates.

Please feel free to add your own weirdness to the thread. Would love to see other's stories of real life/DW combining.

...you are driving to a job site and see a Jeep Cherokee with a big off-road brush guard on the front bumper and you catch yourself looking to see where he has guns mounted.

Lol was going to say something like that.  I call cars DW names on the road and my real life passengers think I'm crazy.  Well I am.

When you see a new model of car, and your first thought is 'I wonder how many bulk points it'll take?'

When you see a panel truck go by and think, 'Damn risky going out without escorts.'

When you see someone with dual fancy-schmancy chrome exhaust and think, 'Uh oh, rear MGs...'

But the actual potentially not-so-funny part of 'you've been playing too much Darkwind' for me:

I play Darkwind several times a week, although these days it's mostly just travels since I don't have more than 15 minutes at a time.

I drive, at most, once a week. Say two to four times a month.

I drive a compact semi-sports car: Acura Integra GS-R. 170 HP from a 1.8 liter engine, 0 to 60 in a neat 7 seconds. Performance tires, the works. It's a huge waste for me, but I bought it when I was driving a lot more and I love it and don't want to give it up. It hugs the corners like nobody's business, and is loads of fun to drive on the windy mountain roads that pretty much surround the San Francisco Bay area in all directions. (Well, except to the West.)

The result of all this? I am much more used to driving in Darkwind now than I am driving in RL. I find myself thinking 'I wonder how fast I can take this corner without spinning out?' I find myself thinking 'Ah, a straightaway, I'd better hit the gas hard on this because I'll have to brake for the next corner.' I find myself thinking, 'I bet I can take this corner without slowing.' And I find myself thinking, 'Did I put roll bars in this one?' But mostly it's not even inner dialogue, it's just the occasional feeling of unease... the feeling that I'm not going fast enough to get away.

I haven't done anything really stupid yet. I'm hoping it's not just a matter of time.

Hmmm.  I drive like that all the time.  Maybe that's why I find driving so easy in DW?
