Of course, he out-drove me, and passed me early on. We were laughing about how I should have put a character with a better driving skill in, when I said something to the effect of: It's cool, this guy sucks at driving but he's 200 gunner with Sniper and Moving Targets. I think I heard DV crap his pants all the way down in Australia. Just when you think he's done being stupid it gets worse. He did more damage to others and himself then I did until the end of the event. He damaged his laser, which I was after so that bummed me out a bit. I managed to single him out in the end, but he refused to demo until his engine was destroyed even after taking multiple laser shots to his body. Another pattern is to simply go out with as many buuzzers as you can bring and force tons of rolls to get a better chance of a rare spawning.
