Bummer, would have been interesting to see if you had broken the 250 cap with the new engines.

I tuned the engine.

What?

I said I tuned the engine, she's fast now.

Yeah, right, you couldn't tune a radio.

Seriously, I did.

Dude, its just an old B Armored Phoenix and a tired old small block V8.  Shes fast enough, but nothing special.

Screw you man, watch this...

Full B armored Phoe, 240.

Got a V8 B armored Phoe to 245, that seemed the best it could do, Mantis chasing so plenty of time to hit top speed in Once Upon a Town.

You can reach reach 250 with full armor, no need using only 5 on all sides, but the nitro booster is your main issue stopping you from reaching 250.

I've warned multiple times in the past not to use a nitro booster when attempting a 250 run as any "dirtying" done to your engine will kill your top speed and you won't reach 250 with a dirty engine.

My old attempts were done with an osprey that has a bouncy suspension, so it may be possible to get to 250+ in a low to the ground 5lv12 racer like a cougar/deville/turin etc..and break the 250 cap.

My attempts from the past.

Osprey 5lv8 with nitro-Reached 250 fired nitro booter and slowed me down to the 240s due to dirtied engine.

Osprey 5lv8 with Rocket booster-reached 250, fired rocket booster, made car bounce and lose traction so loss of speed wih no traction.

Just took a 7LV12 Deville to 245, that seems the fastest I can go. I can't move teh needle any further for any more accel. Did you get to 250 with the Rocket Booster? No room in a 7LV12 Deville for a RB.

At those speeds the rb slows you down. I'd say the 5lv12 McKenzie is the fastest because of it low ground clearance and lightweight chassis.

I thought this was pretty cool, till I read the rest of the thread

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/9748/screenshot00045457.png

5L pike, very light on A armour. Probably could have got a bit more out of it, but seeing a 4L pho can do it ...

(sorry for my facetious comment back there Jim  :stare: I take it back, I take it back)

Yeah I think 245 is basically the max the speedometer can be set to, so even if the car is capable of going faster you top out there. You can probably hit 250 (or possibly higher) as Lord Foul said, but I bet that was on a slope with a downhill grade, however slight. You can commonly see a vehicle moving faster than the speedo is set for when moving downhill.

This is the fastest Ive managed to get, I rarely run straight and have anything fast enough behind me to allow me to reach such a speed before 500m. 233 is my max so far.

I had a badlander chasing my 4L pho the other day. He gradually caught me, eventually coming into 90m firing range when I was at 235mph. Fortunately the shooting slowed him and then he finally flipped out, but I was showing 245 before I could escape.

I mentioned it in the lobby and someone (Ratboy, I think) told me he'd had something similar except the npc that flipped out nearly clipped him when he was at 235. That would have been messy...

I do not recall being on a slope or going downhill when reaching 250mph. It was on the favorite racing map of once upon a town and there is a screen shot of it somewhere in this thread or the older speed record thread. It was done with a 5lV8 before the v12s came to be.

I just don't understand how you got to 250.  The speedo does not even go that far, you cannot even set 250.  I pegged the speedo in a 7LV12 DeVille and it only went to 245, then sat there for turns on end.  How did you get it to 250?  Is there a key to press other than setting the needle that will get a bit more speed?

I was just in a travel and I think that may be just it. using the up arrow to set the speedometer let me move it just a tick higher than using the mouse.

254 in a fire engine, full A armor, 9.4L.

Can pick up a bit of speed in drifts to break the 245 limit the games speedo gives you.

Before AI trader escorts could be controlled in any way, I saw a pair of their lorries hit 180mph (and take down a persuing badlander) on once upon a town, which I thought was pretty nifty too.

Edit: Oh and if you don't mind the car being in the air, I think most of us have seen more than a few little cars flying through the air at 1200mph+ hehehe.

Have a screen shot or event id with FE doing that? Never considered trying a FE(didn't own one back then), though it may work with the massive weight and using a RB could give better results.

Yeah I've had lorries doing 180 on the once upon a town map, it's not as uncommon as some would think.

Anom, yep I used the arrow keys to peg the speedo.

No screenshots. Had a house fire recently and don't have access to a lot of my stuff. But I usually only took screenshots of skins anyway.

Also, if you count DW:TAC, lorries in that are pretty buggy and you can get them up 500mph+ with recoil from heavy weapons, but they won't stay on the ground at that speed.

I really think the top speed of all vehicles needs to be reduced. Heavy vehicles being limited to 80, muscle limited to 140 or so, sports cars being able to hit 200... obviously with variations and exceptions based on the chassis, but really any car can currently hit 245-250 given enough space as it stands... although I'm not sure about the buggy/dustup.

Just had an A armored Turin with a 5LV12 going a 245 mph steady on Once Upon a Town. I couldn't lose a Chaser until I maxed out my speed. He managed to top out at 225 mph, and stay steady at that speed the entire time. He was the leader of the Badger Baiters, and had average stats, but was pretty impressive for an NPC. Dropped my rear armor to 5.
