For my GW/SS/Elms runs i use 4L phoenixes with B armor.
Cheap fast cars!
If you want to do cargo missions try to size the fueltank as best as possible.
A gas can off 10 bulk only gives 8 fuel. so that is a loss of 2 for each gas can.

Try to run them in squads of 2-3. 1 tanker with a big fuel tank (keep 60 bulk left for 3 taxi clients) and 1 with large cargo (for courier missions)

Also - the maps scroll, so you can expect the exact same terrain after a while, so you sometimes have a chance to recover from a mistake.

Or, if you drive like me, to repeat the same mistake over and over.

LOL - my first trip to GW was in a Sympth. I flipped in the same turn on the same bump three times... I finally managed to make the curve the next time and escape.

This is not universally true.  If you take out one unarmed car, you will frequently see just as much opposition as you will if you take out two small unarmed (or even lightly armed) cars.  There is a minimum below which encounters don't go.

In fact, if you can handle two cars at a time, I find two unarmed low-CR cars are just as easy to flee with as one car is.  If they run in separate directions, one of them generally just gets away as both baddies chase the other one.

I am going to be taking one unarmed car out this weekend, after it is repaired. It has a CR of only 60 with A armor. Hopefully it will fly the like the wind since it is only 2900 lbs.

Just going to Elm. Want to get a driver and gunner there so I can have a presence there and participate in races.

I am looking forward to it. Part of me hopes for an encounter so I can try and outrun them, but part of me just wants them to get there alive!

Have been going scouting with Groove Champions and Irate Racing (and they saved my butt a few times now) and I am learning to love the scouting so not sure how many more in town events will participate in. I love my Phoenix with a 4L engine and dual gatling guns on the front.

The road to Elms is "mostly" flat and does not give too many options to hide from weapons fire in the terrain...

With your Phoenix runner you should have NO problems making the trip there.

Stand on the accelerator, keep the wheel straight as you can to keep your speed up and you'll make it.

it may be that you will always have at least 2 pirates but this can differ depending on your scout roll. The CR balance is followed closely in SS. I dont think you would ever encounter more than 4.

JD, Actually I am using my Eliminator for this run. I use my GG Phoenix for scouting. Should I be concerned that I'm not using the Phoenix?

No, don't be concerned. The goal is to run, not fight. :)
