Okay, I'm about to attempt a chrome skinned P-51 mustang theme on a muscle. But I'm torn on whether to try it on a Pho, Buccy or Moray.

Thoughts?

Indeed, i have scouted with "Little Horse". That P47 is nice even without touch-up.

I have to finish a couple of commission pieces before i can work on this one, but i'm really excited to do it.

I don't own a pike, so i don't know if i want to paint something i can't drive. ;)

when looking at the bucc skin in show models, it would appear the yellow skin is used for the chrome of the bumpers and stuff for all other skins.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yep. And you'll see it in-game, too, in little gaps and along certain lines. I've not found any way to remedy it.

Yeah, I noticed this too this morning when I went to do a skin for myself. I tried to get the "accessories" a nice rusty/muddy look, but it kept coming out chrome and shiny. Doesn't makes sense, since all of the files are the same, you'd think all parts of the vehicle would simply come from their own skin. With exception of the windows, of course, which has their own file. It also means no custom plates, etc.


On a side note, does anyone know what is going on with the Dustup skins? All of the "default" show up properly, but any attempt to make a custom skin results it the new texture being overly white, almost fully bleached out. Is it related to why their ghost appears in bright white instead of grey? Any known remedies to fix the skin problem?

Ive never worked with the dustup, but I think you're onto something there. Be nice if that was not the case.

The above image is with one of the default skins. Notice everything shows up as it does on the base texture file.

And that is how my skin looks when viewing it. Notice that the bumper, headlights, certain features that I did NOT texture over from the original image still show up fine. But the body itself where my own pattern layer is set is all funky white.


I have tried adjusting DPI settings, made sure I merged all layers before converting to jpeg, etc. Nothing I do works, all attempts come out with it like that for any portion that I modify.

it doesn't, that jpeg you posted has no layers, must be a bug, try moving all the other texture out of that folder and try again? make sure to quit and reload in showmodels before each texture modifications (at least for macs)

i wonder if there is a problem with the dustup model, after all it's ghost is white.

Yeah, I copied the file and tried to run it in showmodels and had the same "white-out" effect happen. Has to be a bug, IMO.
