Nice work on the Turin, neko!

RE the damage texture: I have to admit, I took very little time on it, it was really intended as a stop-gap as I hoped some of you guys might work on it B)

I'm going to put a bit of work into on-demand vehicle skin downloading (the same as decals), then we can add loads of them without me getting all jumpy about download size.

Wow!  Can I say it again?  Wow!
I am staggered by the awesome submissions. It really helps the vehicles become more of a character when you can personalize it's appearance. These additions increase our choices incredibly. I applaud everyone of you.
I'll throw in a suggestion or two. MFP yellow paint schemes. Big Bopper Pursuit/March Hare Interceptor, Max's Yellow Interceptor (ideally this would be a squadcar,  but I think those are just a rumor  ;) ) . Windsor and a Windsor II for Max's. It could also work on any of the muscle cars I suppose. MadMaxMovies has plenty of reference pictures.
Hearse? Same car was used as an ambulance. A Hippy Hearse :cyclops:.

The new chomper is so frickin' awesome, I'd nearly consider changing the current 'DW mascot' car to it from the current vampire:

Yeah, I always think the vamp pic being featured so priminently is out of place with the theme and it's definatley not the coolest looking car while the chomper is great.

I also noticed you updated some chassis pics on the site, which is nice and something that kind of bugged me, but not enough to mention it :p.

That IS a really great armored Chomper. I'd agree that it deserves a place as a "Mascot" car. =^_^=

Sam, on the Flame Turin, do you want the plate to read PSYCHIC, *SAM*, or something else?

Here's the skin for DV's requested Bullet skin (which was originally just goofing around with his request, but he liked it, so here it is):

Heh, Psychic would be cool.. ;-)

BTW I'm just completing the code for on-demand downloading of skins, so we will be free to add loads more without any impact on the size of the main download and we won't be forcing anyone to patch them until they actually view them in-game.

For these custom bullet skins, for example, I would prefer not to make them into common options but into unique ones that are only obtainable by stealing them from wilderness NPCs or as a reward for some special missions.

Sure, however you want to incorporate them. =^_^=

If you want me to make logo-less versions of the patterned skins, that's no problem.

I vaguely remember something from Subscription details (that I can't find now) that allowed for "personal" skins, as well as logos. I was planning the Cats Laughing tiger-stripe jobby as a personal skin for myself, and I think DV would wet himself to have the zebra-stripe one as his personal paint job.

Edit: By the way, the Flame Turin is coming along nicely. Looks like I just needed some sleep and a clear head to tackle the problem.

The MFP paintjob (Requested by multiple people) would make a great BH-only unique skin.

I have my old MFP paintjob for the Phoenix and we can make more too.

The on-demand skins thing is good to hear too, I can go wild with the Flail now, the other skins I did were 'boring' as those types of cars would usually have one color (though I considered making a camo LR/Apache).

Flame Turin's almost done. Just a few more niggling details to fix.

Edit: Finished (the above picture is not quite the finished model). Please note the custom plate (including nationality) and tire tread.

I don't mind a few cars being 'newish' although they should have some indication of being in the Darkwind world, maybe some strategically placed rivets or welds. NOONE races without a few points of armor on the car.

I was wondering if the Apache's windows are going to get some work though, the ones I've seen were black still? I was hoping for some sort of visible protection added by the mechs, since they're the most common tank for vets and I imagine pretty heavily armored.  Could be it is there but the _d file was covering that stuff up though.

The Apache's windows are still black (although less awful than before :P). I'm done with the apache for now so if you or someone else wants to darkwindize it they're welcome.

Same goes for the windsor which is very clean, my attempt at the bolted one was quite pathetic, especially compared to Mathias' stuff.

Also speaking of the damage texture, I only just realized that the damage texture doesn't go from 0-30 but from 0-100 in the model viewer so my damage textures came out way too saturated and strong overall and I'll re-do them soon.

Nice work guys!

Neko - just a comment about the Turin that didn't occur to me until now: it's very rare, so possibly making special skins for it isn't the right choice, since we will need to obtain a Turin before we can use the skin. Also, unfortunately, the tyre textures don't come from the main skin image at all - the way our game engine works, our wheels are actually separate models.

No worries, Sam. I wasn't planning on making more Turin skins, and especially not "special" skins for it - it's a beast to skin. Although if nobody else steps to the plate and makes some "stock" skins for it so that there's variety in Races, I may have to do something about that.

As for the tyre texture, it was just a bit of fun; I wasn't really expecting it to be noticeably visible in-game to begin with. I was just having fun with it. =^_^=

I started working on a Van skin (another car that I think is direly in need of another paint job) yesterday morning before I got pulled away from my computer, but wasn't able to make anything that I was truly happy with. THAT skin is a bit of a beast.

Thats why I was happy to see the Bullet investigated, even though my gang doesn't have one. I for one like to see some variations in the races... I LOVE the variable damage overlay, it often looks like every car is different.
