Some asked if they could help with car textures.

Sure they can.

I'm providing here a link to my photoshop layered file that was used to make the new symphony textures. Original bi-coloured scheme and 512x512 texture size by Joer.
Colour changes and rusty effects by viKKing.

We are looking to have all textures resized and redraw to 512x512 for a better display. But this is a long and boring working.

It should be used as an inspiration source: PSD layers

You will need a software compatible with Photoshop PSD file format. I personally use a cheap clone name Pixelmator, on the Mac.
It's only gripe is that he doesn't read alpha channels from Photoshop file, but the price is a real bargain, and the interface familiar.
Other than that, I use an old Photoshop 5 LE version I had with a scanner on XP.

The Gimp is great, but I'm too old to learn it, I'm been using Photoshop for too long.

Can i request another moray skin? only got 1 right now, maybe skins without the logos.

I got started on this one a few weeks ago actually... I'll have to work on it again. I'm against any car with only one skin!

Hey Vik I was wondering what happens if you take a 256x256 texture and scale it up to 512x512... will the mapping still work?


The Boxvan I skinned for the slaver story I did was a 512x512, wheras the Moray is a 256x256...

Yes, it will work fine. The only thing to watch out for is that all skins, including the _d one, for each vehicle, must be the same size.

The stormer skin needs to be re-texture-mapped and isn't unfortunatley doable just by editing the image. :(

I looked at the stormer skin weeks ago, as that one is indeed UG-LY. As Alo points out though that one is set up a little odd compared to the other cars and isn't a simple fix.... way beyond my meager skills.

Ok, how about Eaton? i would love a nice black gloss look for that car, love that car so much it needs some nice paint jobs to go with the sweet design :p

The eaton is one of the 256x256 ones so that could be improved quite a bit with some proper shading maybe.

Right I know that resolution dergades as you increase size- I've just wondered if the relative positions of things stayed the same.

Yep, the data that maps vertices to texture locations is always specified between 0 and 1 in each axis (i.e. as a proportion), for precisely this reason. It lets mipmaps work too (which is a level-of-detail for textures)

RE the stormer: unfortunately it is texture mapped so that almost all of the car comes from a tiny spot in the image. It needs re-skinning which is unfortunately beyond my weak 3dstudio skills. I was disappointed about this one when I bought it because, naturally, I wanted a General Lee skin..

I made new windows, which are in the layered photoshop file. However when I delete the windows.jpg file from the moray data folder it pops back in on startup heh heh. Not sure How to get around that- I see in the symph skin the windows are part of the main skin file. Any advice is appreciated there.

Still a few places to fix up, the edge of the hood scoop is hard to match up and I need to work on the rivets a bit. Mostly just a preview to get DV worked up.

And the first person to tone the brightness down on the bumpers gets a free bottle of Dr. Mathias's Miracle Elixir!
