This weekend we will be racing heavily armoured honda preludes, so your characters are reasonably safe. The racetrack have kindly agreed to supply as many vehicles as we need, so feel free to smash ?em!

There is a timetrial at 9pm GMT on Friday (17th March), another at 9pm on Saturday, and a 2 lap race at 9pm on Sunday. The two timetrials will decide the grid placings for the race. Juicy prize funds have been offered.

Note that the timetrials are optional, you'll start at the back of the grid if you haven't registered any laptime. They're also a good chance to learn the in-game controls...

Participating in the event

You need to have a character to use as a driver- if you don?t have one, log into the website and choose Gameplay, Towns from the menus. Click on the Tavern picture.
You also need to register a driver for each event, otherwise when you log in you?ll only be a spectator! ? click on the Racetrack picture in the town.

Note that new entries to an event will not be accepted if it is due to start in the next 15 minutes, so sign up as soon as you can! If your nominated driver gets injured, you can revoke his entry to the next event and use a different character.

Note that all in-game chat is logged so if you have any comments/suggestions, just shout away, I?ll be checking the game logs afterwards!

Joining the live event

Download and unpack the darkwind program (approx 13MB ).
It's available HERE
You?ll need WinZip or similar. Make sure the folder structure is maintained, i.e. don?t just dump all the files into one folder.
Requirements: any Windows PC with at least a 32MB graphics card should be ok. Any internet connection should be ok.

Run the darkwindClient program, and log onto the lobby server. At the bottom left you?ll see two buttons: ?Users? and ?Events?. Click on ?events? and then select one from the list. The right side of the screen refreshes to show details on that event. If the event server is currently running then you?ll see a ?Join? button. Click this to log on to the live event.

live events

I should have said in the previous post: the game lobby only shows events that are happening today, so right now (Thursday) all you'll see is a chatroom.
