Okay, I see some joker(s) have cleaned out the shops in Somerset.

I get it, and thank you for inadvertently proving my point about why this model of store supply doesn't work because eventually some day, at some point, this exact thing will happen without someone doing it as a prank/attack or whatever it is.

However, people are trying to play here. Please sell some of that stuff back to Jake rather soon.

Thank you.

I don't see the problem: whoever is the buyer, i doubt that he can keep buying everything for so much time.

More, i've been lucky enough to read your message, so i bought all weapons listed in the SS market with a price lower than the Jake's full price and i've made almost 60K in less than 10 minutes.

Nice result :)

Sorry Parduz, I can't agree. It is a problem. I found out who the buyer was too, wasn't too difficult, if you were checking the market I'm sure you saw too.

There really need to be some controls on the market, a big one being listing fees that actually matter. This is only going to get worse as the game gets bigger.

Thankfully, Jake restocks way faster than I thought he would.

I may not understand something, Jansan, so i may be wrong.
But what's the problem? that a man can have enough money to buy everything from jake?
Ok.... for how much time?
He can re-sell the things at a higher price, but i don't think that anyone of us will not go to Elm to buy at a decent price.
So, Jansan, what i'm missing to not see the problem?

Jake is full again 'cause i've worked hard in the market right now.

I made a grand total of 130K buying player weapons and engines and reselling it to Jake :D

Go to Dexter, your drinks are paid, for this night. :p

Fair counterpoint Parduz, but I'm thinking he CAN more or less keep it up indefinetly. The listing fees are trivial, and most of the stuff he's buying out is pretty cheap. If he's willing to sit there all day and click it (and people that do things like this always seem to have that time), he can keep it up for an extended period of time.

It's a long standing design flaw that finally someone decided to exploit. Personally, I didn't expect it to be him, I had my money on others.

Of course, if Jake stocks up fast enough, the damage might be minimal... but so far Jake is losing and the buyer is winning.

I feared this when someone suggested limited ammunition since ammo is so cheap, but I'm not surprised someone finally decided to be a dick and try it with tires, engines, and machine guns. Disappointed at the childish behavior, but not totally surprised.

Yes I did consider doing it just to piss you off, but I'm far too lazy and greedy. :P

Sure someone can buy up all the goods in somerset just to #### with other people, but they won't make a profit that way, most of the stuff is much too common loot from scouts and wouldn't sell very well.

I don't think spending that much time and some of your money on something like that is really worth the time/effort to cause other players what I think is just minor inconvinience.

It mostly hurts fresh subscribers, but that can be easily fixed by giving players a choice of free car instead of 20k (It used to be like this in the beta before I started playing).

Listing fees alone wouldn't completely fix this, what if I just bought everything up to grief people and had no intention of selling it?.  (I'm against listing fees for reasons that I and other people have explained elsewhere several times)

First, what is your problem? Are you 8 years old, or do you just act like it?

Second, how do you even know I was talking about you? Stop being so narcistic.

I'm 8 and a half damnit. It doesn't matter if you had me in mind or not, I and probably most other rich vets have considered this and tried and failed to monopolize goods at one point. But I just wanted to mention how much you inspire and motivate me (towards evil).

Well if you can't at least pretend to be civil and you're just going to break out into another one of your Tourette's-esque tantrums, Sam can't keep excusing your actions on this message board forever. I know you like being the Darkwind pariah, and that I'll never understand. I'm guessing you just really like conflict.

So, seriously Alo. Why don't you stop with the juvenile and impotent jabs and stick to the subjects? Most of us are here to have fun, not argue with people. Well, at least I am.

Actually I thought was mostly sticking to the topic in my last post right before when you decided to start taking offense when none was intended (again) and went on with the usual crap that has gone on in numerous other threads and will never lead anywhere. But your actions lend themselves to parody so easily I admit I just can't resist...

PS: I demand an apology for the insult in your initial post where you called me an 8 year old (It hurt me deeply!). ;)

No, you quite clearly decided to start a fight with me again by that little "piss you off" comment. A fight I didn't want and I never asked for.

You can keep making your snarky little comments and keep up with the childish behavior until you get it out of your system, though. In the end it's not going to do anything except make you look bad, which I realize is what you want.

If you really didn't want a fight why couldn't you just let it go?

Also yeah, I think we're both make ourselves look bad with all the senseless arguing.

Because I don't let things go. If you're going to attack me, then I have to defend myself. That's the way it works.

No, I'm quite happy with the way I've represented myself here. If you are too, then I guess we're doing okay.

If you have more hilarious one-liner insults to make, finish it up now while we wait, and then we'll get back to the subject, which is still a problem.

Unfortunately, Parduz and I were having a good discussion, and now he probably won't touch this thread after all this. Not that I blame him.

LOL your both wrong on one major point.

All items bought are listed in the SS market BELOW what jake was selling them for. If its higher then will be corrected.

this is an experiment to see what it does to jakes prices. If they go up then it means players are better off now then before!

And I dont expect a profit unless arizonas will buy the stuff for more than what I am buying for.

and Jansan.... when you say you will blacklist me, what does that mean exactly? I alone help people out in this game more than anyone here. I take people out on 20 car scouts of which 10 to 14 are my own vehicles. I take more damage monetarily than all others and in some cases my mortars kill the pirates before they even get a shot off or the damage they do is minimal. Before Sam implemented the rule that low fame pirates had cars with chassis damage I could capture pirate cars with good chassis and sell on the market cheaper than what it took to buy them new. I even sold cars way below salvage value so people could buy them and sell them to jake for a quick profit.

Now i see parduz has seen that the prices of some items are below jakes buy value so he is making a quick profit.

I also now see that jake doesnt buy items at a lower value because of overstock. This means salvage value for all items will be higher...

so i ask, how is this going to hurt new players?

That's why I asked, Mike. I was shocked when I saw it and a friend of mine couldn't build the car he wanted.

If you want to run an experiment, I wish you had mentioned it before hand. It was an unexpected thing to see.

I certainly wouldn't blacklist you or anyone if it isn't malicious, but you have to admit, what to think when seeing a blank screen in the shop?

The only problem is if there are no tires or engines, people can't build cars. The merchant won't let them just buy the chassis.

But hey if you're selling for less than Jakes, then that's a very nice thing to do. At first blush I thought the prices were higher, but if I am mistaken, then I apologize.

I am sorry for that.

Though you did prove that someone could maliciously do that if they wanted to. That's a scary thought.

I did notice that jakes prices are going higher on everything that is bought.

I admit I see an exploit here.

If I buy everything jakes price goes up and so does his buy price.

while this is nice for all it is even nicer for the person buying all the items.

This means if i buy heavy machine guns from jake for 5000 then his price goes to 6000. I go back in and then jake buys them back from me for 5500.

I dont like that at all. I'll email Sam right away and tell him of the possible exploit so he can fix it.

I highly doubt sam ever imagined someone would do as I did. I imagined buying out jakes, putting items on the market and also transporting the items to elmsfield to be sold to arizonas. elmsfield economy is crushed because of my farming of traders there. I did that to make scouting more profitable for not only me but for everyone. The second part of the plan was to buy out jakes and sell to arizonas for a profit.

i did not count on jake then uping his buy price right away thus creating an exploit to which I described.

Sorry jansan for the rant, just that most people know I do things for the game and the players, not just for myself. Yes, I make a decent profit myself BUT I am more interested in making DW more fun and more secure from exploits. Cheaters ruin games... I hear that Battlefield 2 is being overrun by hackers with head shot code and counter strike was ruined for me by head shot coders...

I also did not imagine that jake would not allow to buy a new car if say engines were not available. The suggestion to sam was made to allow buying of the chassis only. Ill bring that up again.

Oh no I can completely understand, I probably should have asked in a more neutral manner, I think I over-reacted. Sorry about that. I should have gotten more of the facts and checked the prices closer. I realize your intentions are good.

I like your suggestion of being able to buy the chassis only.

And good catch on that exploit, hope Sam closes it.

Mike has played with the economy more than any one else in the game. He knows its ins and outs. And he doesnt exploit at all. He makes way too much cash soloing with 20 cars! He scouts with the newbs all the time. Cut em some slack guys. I support em 100%. Hes here to help the game, not hurt it.
