The Camp Wars section has been updated significantly in the DW wiki, including crucial information on direct camp attacks.

Some further updates were done in the wiki regarding camp wars recently, clarifying some little known and uncommon rules.

Go to your camp's war tab. At the top, there will be an option and a box to check to open your camp for PVP. This option is only available every other week during the game year.

Thanks. I got a message from another player about it being the weeks to go pvp on, and i guess i was going on a misunderstanding.
