Darkwind - Viewing Topic: No Java after Update?

I finally got a new laptop (its garbage but its mine) but now I cant seem to get DW to work. I installed the Client but it said I didn't have Java. I installed Java, but it keeps telling me I don't have Java. In the past I played it on a computer that has Steam but it wasn't my steam account, I was hijacking it from a friend which meant we couldn't play together because it booted him. I suppose I will have to get my own Steam account but I really don't want to. I hate their business model and would rather just run it from the client. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem? Is it because Java upgraded to Java 8 or is it just my laptop being too obsolete?

I have had some troubles with java.. even when i have it on the computer it fails to detect it and run it.
It can work fine also with openjava, you can give it a try.

Also in download section of the game you have a patched (windows) version that doesn't need java

You could create a steam account with false data, and using it just to have DW around, its free, you are not giving them any money and using their systems is just a cost for them. So you won't be giving anything away while getting what you want.
