Cynthia looked at the spreadsheet. It had been drawn on the dried hide of one of the wolves from Firelight. Still plenty of room on it for the rest of the years finances. Those are some big wolves. She shook her head. Henry was persona non gratia out in the Badlands for the Rally, and training had wiped out what little money they had earned since they started back up. "Show me the inventory list for all of our outposts. There has got to be something we are sitting on that's worth money. I want this number black, not red." She looked through the list. "Sell the Osprey and the Voyager in Badlands. We don't have a presence out there and we get more when we need them. Besides, Henry is racing the Buccy this weekend." She furrowed her brow when she got to Gateway, the gangs main hub. "Is this a typo? We have over 9,000 units of Stone?" "Ahh, no, not a typo, we had more. We've been running it to camp" a nervous ganger stammered. Cythia scoffed. "Sell 8,000 of it. That'll net us some pocket change!"

It had been a busy week for the Travelers, Henry mused from his rocking chair. That’s right, he’s got a ####ing rocking chair. You try being old you git! Anyway, it had been a busy week, from running lorries clear to Sarsfield and back from Somerset (no mean feat with those ####ing renegades. They attacked one convoy three times in a row. Assholes), to winning the Somerset Deathrace League. It’d be nice to have that badge on the wall. Henry had almost told the Travelers to sit out the 8 car brawl, because being tied with the biggest gang in Evan for a lazer was giving them the scares. They’d got lucky though, and Henry would rather have luck than skill sometimes. Plenty of new (and old) faces had popped up, and the market was flush with toys no one could afford. And to top it off, a new Rally League in northern Evan. Henry wasn’t sure the Travelers wanted to compete in the inaugural event, but they were definitely gonna show up. It was going to be a whose who of Evan and Henry was sure tempers would flare as bad blood boiled and innocent blood was spilled as a result. Henry was most excited about the Faster Pussycat Motorhome race. It was shaping up to be one hell of a show, with one of Evans most involved gangs hosting the event. If only all gang were as involved. Jill came in babbling about needing to train a protégé for the new lazer they were getting, and Henry was once again grateful he was going deaf. The draw of the suspense, the reality of the mortality. They never quite knowing what was going to happen. This was why Henry had joined. Henry had never imagined he’d be leader of his own Gang one day. Ah, it was good to be back in Evan.

Henry yawned. 6am was early for him these days. He'd been kept up by The Bastards hootin' and hollerin' all night. Something about no one buying there toys, and there needed to be blood spilled in the new Northern Rally. Henry planned on renting out a few convicts from the prison to send into the Rally. Didn't plan on winning, just wanted to see the carnage. Henry looked at the to do list for the week. One last race for Elmsfield and the Travelers could take another league. Henry dropped his paperwork. "####," he swore softly. He'd fired the gangers up there after they'd lost a flail being stupid. He had no one in Elms to run the race. He needed to be less impulsive, he knew, but he was sick of weak gangers in HIS gang. Oh well, he thought. Time to turn to GW and make sure we win those leagues too!

"Fired. Fired. Fired. ####, why is it so hard to find good help?" Henry swept the papers off his desk and grabbed a bottle of Old Ma's Apple Pie whiskey and took a deep swig. Robert picked up the papers and shuffled them all back together. "Henry, you need to calm down. It's a process, and it takes time. You're too old to be flying off the handle!" Henry glared at him, took another swig, and collapsed into his Gaston Replica Hunting Lodge Chair (TM). Robert looked at a few sheets. "What's wrong with this one? She's pretty good!" She's a gunner with 15 dex, Robert!" We don't raid barns, we fight cars. I need someone that can hit more than the broadside of a building! Keep looking, we usually find a good one every ten or so!" Robert nodded and slipped out of the office. He had way more fun shooting Rockets at cars then he did with clerical work, but Jill was out on convoy duty, and he was third in command. He wistfully wished HE had some Old Ma's Apple Pie whiskey. He'd have to settle for the swill at Dexters while he looked over more applicants. At least it was good swill.

Medal Ceremony

Henry walked in front of the two gangers, Alona Tankersly and Ruby Underwood, the latter of whom was sporting fresh bandages on the stump that was where the rest of her arm should have started from. Henry was filled with pride. He gathered his thoughts and turned to address the Pole Dancers in attendance. “Today, we are recognizing two of our newer recruits. Two up and comers who not only represent the values of our gang but demonstrated what will be needed to carry our gang forward into the future, and secure our place in the annuals of Evans history books. Today, in an emergency withdrawal of our Lorries from a camp before reset, these two brave souls volunteered to drive the half armored, defenseless lorries with nothing but their wits, cunning, and bravery. Escorted, of course, by the fine crew of Sandaconda. We’re not totally reckless!” Henry paused for the laughter he knew would follow, bathing in it while he gathered his thoughts. “As you may be aware, the Militia in Somerset is not fond of us!” Boos, with some cursing and quite a few people spitting on the ground in disrespect. “Yes, yes, but what can they do? We are stronger than their puny Maulers and Chasers. Today, today though, they almost out smarted us. As we came to the gates of Somerset, the Militia sicced a Butterfly and a Longshot on us. They came up behind, like cowards, trying to fell out Lorries! Sandaconda did it’s best, but was slow to dispatch the Butterfly, as they are squirrely bastards and it wouldn’t hold still. This left the Longshot to chase down our Lorries. Easy prey, yes? HA! They let him have his fun, chipping away at armor that our coffers could easily replace.” Henry’s voice sobered for the next bit, as once must recognize when an enemy has put up a good fight. “Sandaconda had taken down the Butterfly, but was a long ways from helping the Lorries. And Rubies Lorry was about to be breeched. She threw on the E-Brake and hopped out, climbing a hill with her Rifle to take the fight to the Longshot. Alona also stopped, in a commendable act of solidarity, and emptied her scattergun as she took a post alongside Ruby. These choices, these brave choice to face a superior adversary on foot, bought Sandaconda enough time to catch up to the Longshot and eliminating it, saving the Lorries and goods within. Sadly, in the course of this bravery, Ruby had her arm shot off by the Longshot.” More boos, as Ruby definantly waved her stump at the crowd, slipping them off with the one hand she had “Ain’t nothin, innit? I’m still ‘er. Tweren’t the hand I DJ with, so no real loss!” The crowd roared at the lewd joke, and Henry raised his hands. Quite fell. “Ruby, Alona,” he said, slipping his hand beneath his trenchcoat and pulling out two boxes, today I have the distinguished honor of pinning you with the Medal of Bravery. It warms my cold soul to see gangers like you under my stead. He pinned the medals to the womens chests, with loud applause from the crowd laying the background to the smiles on the proud womens faces. “With these medals, know that none will question your bravery, and you are forever part of Evans history, as well as the Dancers.” He shook both of their hands and gave them the horns, the Dancers sign of respect. Then his smile widened. “Also! Jill, bring out that out would you?” Jill ran forward, a long box in her arms. “Ruby, step forward.” Henry opened the box to reveal a robotic arm, and he motioned for Ruby to present her stub. Jill removed the bandages, and they put the arm over the stub. Ruby winced, but made no sounds as the nanites fused with her arm and she became one with her new metal appendage. As it completed the union, she flexed the fingers, trying it out. “How’s it feel?” Henry asked Ruby smirked, and threw metal horns into the sky, howling “Dancers!” The crowd reciprocated the gesture, shouting back ten times louder. Henry leaned in and whispered in her ear. “I’m proud of you. Don’t make me regret spending money on that. Continue to do us proud.” Ruby nodded curtly. Henry whirled around to face the crowd. “Now who wants to ####ing party?”
