Morning all.

I am thinking about starting the laborious task of building up my own camp. I would like to own one ( I was a manager of one for awhile till I took a break from the game) but I am back now and have no intentions of leaving it.

But I think it would be a fun process to build one from scratch. I can only find a few threads on it, some about the prices here on the forums. I have however read the WIKI, but wondering if there was any recommended threads in this forum.

I am not worried about the time or the effort, or the price.. but I do want to build one.

And in lue of building one, I would be willing to buy one too.. But it would need to be a small camp, so I can learn the process of it as I go.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Also, is it just a matter of "I have X amount of dollars, PM Sam and X-Man" they approve it, and then you go through the process of building it?

You figure out what type and size you want, from the thread Groovelle posted, then you ask to buy the ground. If it gets approved, and it should then you have a completely bare camp, to which you need to haul in materials to start building the buildings.

I have built 2 from the ground up, they take alot of time and money, and gangers, but at the end of it you do have the satisfaction of a self built camp that you can make whatever you want.

If you want any hints and tips give me a yell, happy to help out.

Top of the forums, Important Announcements, Thread is Camp Prices. Once you figure out if you have the money to buy the camp you want, PM and we will hash out the details. I will then send your request to Sam for the camp to be built.

Second option would be to find a camp a player is willing to sell. You can sometimes get these at a fraction of the new camp cost.

Thanks everyone for getting back to me!

I am in the process of saving up the cash now.

If anyone does how ever have a camp that is languishing or you do not have time, I am more then willing to open up a dialog.

Till then, its time to save up!

A few things to consider -
SS/Elms camps are all small. Best you you can make are maybe HFOJ, Rotary engines, Napalm guns. They are the safest.

GW and surrounding area are medium camps. If your well versed into the camp process, you can probably run MM, Turins, and 5LV12s. But this is with mid 40s mechs with over 100 skill. You have to have a pretty multi vehicle crew to move stuff to this camp size. Its potentially dangerous.

BL, FL...way down south. Big camps. You better be very good at running and guarding a lorry. You can potentially make anything in these camps if you build them up and get a sponsorship each year (very expensive). Your going to need over 60 100+ mechs though. It tough and dangerous mind you, but could be a game changer. Pretty much impossible to do it without alot of other player support.

Here is some other things to consider -

Can you safely run a lorry or box van daily to your camp from town? Because to build a camp you will have to do this ALOT. After building your camp, you will need to ensure there are CPS, EPS,scrap, and potentially plastics to manufacture stuff.

If your buying a camp, chances are you will need to repair it, as its been left idle and decaying. You also will have to clean up the membership, get rid of "dead weight"(gangers of gangs squatting in camp that will eat your food but who are not providing an increase in MR - non-premium members), ensure your MR is high enough to maintain the cars in camp, and your storage abilities dont go over so stuff gets damaged in camp (You will end up hauling in storage lorries to assist with this eventually).

If your building a camp, you have to ask yourself - can I regularly and safely haul in materials to build the camp, and also maintain required materials to manufacture?Do you or your friends have enough mechs to assign to camp? Do you have a consistent flow of money to be able to pay the weekly camp cost?

If you are going to build, here is what I do, and I am probably different from most players. But I have built or helped build around 7 camps of all sizes and all over Evan, so take it or leave my advice -

1) Start hauling mats(Stone, cps, eps, scrap) to camp. On your first run, bring a lorry. You will be leaving this lorry in camp forever, it will be your first storage lorry. When traveling to camp, make every effort not to take damage to your escort vehicles, because you wont have a mech shop in camp yet to repair your cars. After you arrive in camp, leave the lorry and fill it with the materials, except for stone and scrap as these do not decay in the radioactive rain. Head back to town before daily reset, or your cars will take damage due to lack of having a mech shop. Again, leave the lorry, store your cps, eps and extra gas and ammo in here for now. Dont worry when the chassis takes damage, I have never seen one go below 1%.

2) Continue to bring more mats to town, and preferable more lorries or high capacity storage cars. Remember my advice from above.

3) When you have enough mats, build a MECH SHOP FIRST. Most players build a storage building. Dont waste your time. Store the mats that can decay in your storage lorries for now. Also, once you get a mech shop, you can repair your vehicles for the return to town. Also, you can break down engines/cars, and weapons for CPS/Scrap/EPS in camp. Leave 4 mechs in camp now so they generate mech points for repairs on vehicles traveling to camp. They also have 1,000 storage lockup space each.

4) Continue to build mech shops, or if you have stone and or metal resources, build a plant for these next. No sense in hauling in 30 lorry loads of mats that you can make in camp. After this, build one house for your NPCs to live in and work your plants. This wont maximum output of your plant(s), but will get you started. You will now require food and water to attract and maintain NPC workers.

From here on out, its up to you how you want to fill the rest of your camp out. It is important to constantly monitor your CR in camp, to ensure your vehicles don't get damaged on daily reset. This max number will go up the higher your MR gets. Also monitor your lockup storage space. If you go over this number, whatever random mats/ammo/gear left outside will get damaged at server reset. When you "Open" camp, do it for 8 hrs for maximum efficiency. You should only do this after you have built plants. If camp is closed, they wont produce anything. Beware that once camp is open, NPC will occasionally attack your camp. You will be give a few days notice of this, but will be required to defend. You dont have to fight at the time given (Unless your camp is open Pvp and its a player attack) and you can spawn it at your leisure. Camp battle never have a return so loot everything and take it back to camp.

Hope this helps and gets you started.

I currently have 4 camps that are closed or just running on life support. I could be talked into renting one out I suppose.
