I'm not one to complain too too much. but as of late its becoming more and more of an issue.... our gunners are being outshot on unfair terms by AI gunners (in the three cases I saw they where in SS) that where far below skill level. I don't understand how its possible but its costing both newbies and vets a lot! one newer player lost his favorite buccy, a seasoned vet lost a laser flail, I lost a laser and CC buzzer along with its whole crew.

another note I need to get off my chest on the creature spawns.... why are rats a spawn in SS? we all know how seriously dangerous they are and we all know how many new players frequent SS... it feels completely out of balance that such spawns occur. ill agree I'm a bit butthurt and such but ive honestly wanted to bring this issue up in public forum for a minute. as of now ive no intention of logging into client for a while. ill check the forums and such but I'm putting the gang on vacation (whats left after the tragic events) and putting the gameplay up for a while (AGAIN) in hopes Sam updates some of this malarkey in attempts to bring the slightest sliver of balance back into my favorite game

Hi Star

Being serious when I say you're unlikely to get a response in this forum - try re-posting in Darkwind Discussion or Bugs if you want The X-Man or Sam to even notice the post

I moved this topic out of the Roleplay forums.

Nothing different has been done to the AI and their abilities. I sat in on one of your group scouts last night and saw things that may need to be corrected on the players end.

A large group of new players forming a squad with multiple vehicles each is not a good idea. A bunch of lower skilled gangers against the AI line fighting in weak armor sedans is not a good formula for success.

New gangers will have lower courage stats. Meaning that when they become stressed, with will miss more often even if they have higher skills. If you don't hit the AI, the will have the advantage with their continuous firing bonus making them able to hit you more often. Even hit them or move out of their LOF to recover and then reengage.

New players who want to form a squad should start with one vehicle each. SUV types, even chompers would be better to use than those symphs, mercs, windys. Use chassis with larger bulk to use front and rear mount weapons, more reloads, and 3 gangers per vehicle.

Learn to stretch out the AI to have odds in your favor when they start to charge in. Even though your terrain position was good to block their LOS, but when they got too close, you guys were taking too many hits.

Tactics need to be reevaluated throughout the encounter. Shooting peds and chassis with destroyed engines while live AI is shooting others up is not the way to do it. Always focus on the biggest threat to the group or individual player.

Above all of this, during the encounter, team communication is very important. Watch each others back. Offer assistance whenever possible.

Rats in SS are nothing new. They have never been a problem before. Players need to make sure their gangers are stocked with hand weapons (preferably rifles) and ammo before ever joining a squad. The more peds in a foot encounter, the more creatures. Having a lot of new and lower skilled gangers is going to make it harder to survive against any creature especially fast ones like rats. This is the main reason to keep squad size smaller until your guys increase in weapons skills.

I don't know what more to say than to try these things out or get a vet that can handle running a large squad to go with you.

Next time I am on, PM me and I will do what I can to help your group and squad out.

I just watched the replay and I think you were very lucky. First of all you went out with a CC/laser Buzzer and a windy, that might be at least 400 CR if not more but you only spawned 3 enemies. Second, you got ambushed with just a PU in front of you so you could have taken them out one by one.

The reason I see for your defeat is that you made 3 mistakes:
1- Ramming a Mulcher with the windy's front weapons.
2- Not using the appropriate crew, 4 of the gangers were completely unskilled. The only capable guy was the laser1/sniper1
3- Using repeat fire on the laser, that makes it very weak after the 3d shot.
Due to that, you find yourself in a situation where the windy shoots once every other turn, the CC is unable to hit and takes forever to reload and the laser is doing very little damage.
I disagree that there is a problem with the AI. Moreover, I think that the AI should have increased chances to hit due to his lack of intelligence and his lack of skills such as Rapidshot.

I really can't see how can a chomper be more bulky than a merc if they have the same bulk capacity, you might only gain 5 bulk due to a smaller engine and therefore slower speed.

I only thru out chompers since they are a little more available to loot than apaches for SS scouts. Landys could be used too, just a little harder to get. Main point was to have a vehicle with rear guns to run and shoot to stay on the move and not be a sitting duck.

I watched the event, and I have no sympathy. This was a very easy spawn.
you were ambushed by three cars, one of which has no real firepower. This event was as simple as turning right, and driving off, that buzzer has rear mounts. Even without skilled gangers (I'm not even remotely sure what you were thinking there) With the weapons you had, you should have easily been able to string them out and win. Lasers are very accurate weapons, I've put completely unskilled gangers on lasers before, in Badlands, and had no issue. you just need to keep moving, and fire once every other turn or so, to keep the laser charged. Instead, You charged the Mulcher, Putting the Chevalier at risk, which then caused it to go down, and proceeded to do who knows what with the Buzzer until it stressed out. The AI was within 30M of you. It doesn't matter what town you're in, if the AI is within 30M of your vehicle and you haven't shot them a whole bunch, they will hit.

As for the foot squad, You didn't even move. You stood there and allowed yourself to be eaten, then claimed rats are "overpowered" when the reality of the situation is rats are very easily beaten. They are a bit quick, but if you just keep running from them and shooting, you should win, But as already stated, you didn't. You just stood there.

There is nothing wrong with Darkwind in this situation, There is something wrong with the player.
