apparently if the league is an eaa event, the effect of the modded equipment is removed for the span of the event. this is from sam thorugh another party. this is a *good thing* imo. just fyi....

Yeah, there's an FAQ entry on it:

In what events is upgraded equipment allowed?
Upgraded equipment is allowed in all events that are not being run under Evan Autoduel Association (EAA) rules. That means: anywhere except races, timetrials, Squad Combat League events, and some deathraces/deathrallies.

I'm open to debate on some of these (e.g. SCL)

I agree with it. Pay to win only vs ai. The only real non eaa event is coe2 and if u want to risk upgraded stuff there... well its gonna get blown up eventually.

I'm kinda in agreement with Joel here. In terms of SCL I've noted that modded weapons don't increase their CR - if increased damage and accuracy increased the CR then maybe it would be a goer, but I'm not totally convinced.

Not sure about SCL, But CoE should allow Modded gear IMO if for no other reason than just so we can ruin eachothers stuff.

On the other hand then People like Foul who have 99LV18 engines in a sonic and Jumpstart 12 would just win a few dozen turns sooner than normal.

I don't see that it would change WHO wins really, but it could SEEM unfair to someone new to CoE (As if the first experiences with that league aren't already nightmarish to newer players with no gear)

Meh. As a newer gang with very little gear, I'll say that upgraded equipment is no big deal in the face of all the other advantages available. I'm completely ok with COE2 being no-holds-barred. (As long as we keep COE1, which fits my definition of a deathrally.) That's just my opinion after my first COE season.

Incidentally, I'd like to see an arena league with similar rewards to COE2. Skip the post battle parade. Maybe even higher stakes...no surrender, thunderdome style. Sure, somebody will dominate with a super skilled senior ganger, but eventually some new hire meat puppet will get lucky with a super enhanced heavy flamethrower.

Regarding other leagues...ok, that's probably fair.
