Okay..  I can see then 1 round to target, next round release..... unless it's an area of effect or personal power.

Area of effect would not need a targeting round, perhaps still keep the 2 round rule, Round 1 to concentrate, next to release.

Personal affect abilities... first round it goes active.

This is not a fault of Psi.... this is a fault of LoS, No fog of war. Where see you can everything on the map. Hence why mortars are so effective even without a spotter.

Changing the LoS rules just for a Psi without other items being changed... that doesn't make sense to me. In "reality" a Psi only needs to *see* or sense you (in the case of being able to see the entire map)

Now.... if it was changed where the AI and Players... could not target at all with having direct LoS or a spotter to assist, THAT makes sense.

Both players and the AI could only get a general sense of direction, but not direct data or composition of forces or makes of specific vehicles. (example Mutant Merc vs Freelancer vs Mutant Runner)

Also allows for tactical advantages for terrain.

You squad is about to go through the SS valley. You know by the sounds they are to the east and the north of you. Maybe as 2 groups or maybe even spread out as one loose group.

You send a dune buggy to climb a high peak. Upon reaching the top you spot a ped on a similar peak, because your height, you also see the real danger. Parked just out of sight, lower on the ridge, a group of 4 phoenixes and 2 Poltergeists, what normally would not in sight of your lower placed vehicles.

Seeing this threat, you have your ballistics crew prepare to fire on these vehicles, while you send another group of striking vehicles to take another route to ambush those polt's and phos from the side or above..... Meanwhile your Buggy opens fire with a Gatling gun on that lone pedestrian to blind them to your movements...

Yeah i don't know if the game engine can support renaming the cars on the fly, that or displaying a generic dust cloud when out of LoS

Yes, this is the way that most players would agree with you on how to defend themselves against psionic gangers. But we all know what will happen to them the next time they run across each others path too! They chose the only way they could fight and defend to save their own gangers lives, only to see them die horribly in a vengeful "eye for an eye" attack in the next event (COE has been notorious for this). But I guess after this phase has happened enough times, it will be all Highlander style where the victor stands alone on a hill and says "There can be only one!"

I know this will make some eyes roll, but, what if a Psi ganger kills a Psi ganger and like Highlander, absorbs at least one or all of his Psi skills?!?! Haha, no more long hard training, just whack a few and get instant specs! :rolleyes:

Well we don't really have many abilities that needs to be constantly maintained.

I mean a dust-cloud is just kicking up a could of dust, not something that needs to be maintained. Pyry is just starting a fire, once it's started it's on it's own and so on.

Only one I can think of that really mentains is DE, and you cant exactly be injured during that (would kinda defeat the point)

Actually, now that I think of it the EM pulse is weird, EM sort of fries electronics not just disable it for a second or two :)

If I recall the official word for EMP is that it is the psi INFLUENCING the Stratosphere and Auroras, it's not emanating from him directly, but him making it possible to let in the solar flares in or some such i think. If that were true i guess we should all get rad poisoning if out of vehicles?

Exactly.  That's the kind Sam gave us.

PSI as it stands is mildly unbalancing.  Not much worse than a dozen other imperfections in the game.  Give them the power level of a nuke and you'd get more than a minor concussion or a splitting headache trying to balance it. There's no logical or gameplay need for it. :)
