Saying ammo is fine just because it's "hard" to be happy with what you got is good, but sorry saying it's fine to not be able to do anything with things is really wrong to me.

you say it's too easy to find gunpowder? right now there's none, and it could easily be something as rare as EPS.

The point is right now we don't have jack for all the guns in the game, this would at least let you choose to reload that ATG or something.... and another point, it would be fun!

Aye, it's the fun that is foremost.  Making it painful just to be "Hardcore" is mising the point.

Ok, I don't want to see squads of buzzers with atgs all over scav... Ammo is easy to get... It's just mostly MG... So when you DO get that ATG, half full even, and mount if on your car, and fire it, people go "holy spitz!" and then when you run out, your on a long wait for it... Cause it's ATG! It SHOULD be rare... If we could build it... Who wouldn't use'm all the time? Catch my drift? If ya missed it, I'm still opposed to ammo creation... Learn to be MG friendly ;)

I think that ammo creation would be fine as long as the requirements for different types was significant. If someone wants to make a bunch of ATG ammo, then make it to where it would be a massive take on materials. And yes - some will make a bunch - but on the whole it allows for more diversity in the basic 20 unit weapons. MGs are great, and I use them heavily, but I still use other types and have cars for them when I get the ammo for them. If we could make our own ammo - and it cost a significant amount of different resources (understandably not life-like) then it would allow us to not only use more kinds of weapons, but to still be able to continually use them. It would still be hard to afford making ammo if you only play occasionally, but I think it will help to give some of us "purpose" in playing scav other than see what the roulette wheel of loot gives us, hoping it is ammo so we can go back out. It would also help with player trading since different materials would be needed. ......just a thought......

I think it will be needed down the ways.
But should suck to do and require the decent effort such a payoff requires.

When I'm in regular DW - I fire between 3 to 6 CC ammo to kill a car with my best guys.
(A lot depends on if they turn, yada yada)

When really tail gunning it to escort lorries my dual CC Buzz chew up about 4 reloads per encounter.

Whatever system comes into place I really don't want it to be a no-brainer when it comes to arming up the bigger/better cars.
I want it to be a a choice but not one of _ "I have a CC but can never use it until I loot another buzzer"
More like - "okay a reload of CC will cost me 10 MG reloads and a 50 mech and a day then I can make that courier run a bit more safer"

Exactly, and even have other materials needed - - maybe 20 MG ammo, 10 RL ammo and some EPs for CC ammo. But make it a reasonable amount for all the lower end weps so we can stay fighting. IT also gives reason to save some of the stuff that scavs dont really use. (Mostly camp materials.)

I guess it could be worth a shot... Just care needed when implementing so it balances...

I have thought long and hard about this, and since I complain every single day that my scav gang doesn't have enough ammo I thought that more/easier to obtain ammo was needed, but if that were to happen then there would be NO difference between scav and normal other than the repairs thing, which is more cumbersome but not that much of a bother.

Just the worthless 2 cents from a total Slacker...

wait, I'm broke, gimme that 2 cents back!

nah, still against it.

my comment regarding ammo scarcity being fine was more about everything else being unbalanced. Manufactured ammo would break the "scavenger" part in the name of the game.

I dont need the game to be tougher, I want it to be more gritty.

Edited:
Im all for fun though, so if we had more things to do, such as tinkering together rare components into new stuff, im all for it. Just as long as the components for CC ammo can only be found rarely and in SF and shanty or something similar.

So you want to make gunpowder eh?
Here is a crazy idea..

You would need three components and a gunpowder mill.

1) Sulfur
2) Charcoal
3) potassium nitrate (saltpetre)

Sulphur can be extracted from the lakes on the Acid Lands map only.
Charcoal comes from the dead threes on the Dead Mans Road and the dead forest maps.
Salpetre should be extracted from animals so any settlement should be able to provide it.

It would be fun to have more "stuff" to do besides hunting pirates. Sneaking a PU out of town and running around with peds to chop wood. Only to be attacked by either animals or slavers would be cool. Or driving a tanker filled with Acid back to BL for refinement?
