Whilst I have to disagree with that statement... I DO agree that you should at least play normal to get a feel for the basics, like user interface, etc. once you've got that down, then sure, come on over to the dark side... it's more "cutthroat" but then... if you're like me, that's how you think it should be... and for the record, yea, SOTA is state of the art... but then, those rentals weren't either... so you'll not notice... and if you ARE coming to scav, don't get too comfy in normal... you'll start thinking B armour is a right, not a privilege... and there ARE amateur nights kicking around... just look through the events list.. they're not commonplace mind... but they're there...

Now we just need a reboot to make it fair for all the people who don't get free rentals... :)

Amy Night is bugged - you need your own vehicle which defeats the purpose AND you apparently just get normal arena prizes - Joel and I just did one with our last rentals and both got fuel (he got first and 2 fuel, I was 2nd and got 1 fuel)

Oh, and lost my only vehicle so I guess that's it for Scav :(

I have played normal and I do have a feel for the basics which is why I moved to scavenger.

Not asking for a reboot.  Just a way to do something besides race.

Hmm, there must be a bug in there if it's telling you to bring your own vehicles. These should only be spawned with track supplied vehicles.. I'll investigate.

Sam, be careful with the types of vehicles supplied. I saw ATG armed Desert Tanks (Landrunners) in there.

I have yet to even see one in SS, so letting scavs get easy access would be horrible.

<De-Cloaking>

Surely the stinger is your classic AN vehicle. Low armour, poor weapon.

I am not sure you can really make an amateur night vehicle that is specially designed to be cheap enough to give away and yet is good enough for wilderness use. The design briefs seem diametrically opposed.

Now you could use any wilderness vehicle but strip all its armour to 10 points per side of class C (then when you do it up for the wilderness you are only junking cheap armour).

Ideally you would have damaged weapons, but since even slight damage seems to massively impair the reliability this probably isn't going to be much use. Better would be cheap weapons like one-shot rockets or rely on rams.

None of these should use chassis that any player would love to have, the tradition of AM is you sell of the chassis to buy your dream car (in scav the beat up rust bucket may be your dream car of course). Symph seems to be avoided by players for a wilderness car but is commonly used by bandits (and therefore is liable to be brought back as loot). This is a 2 man car so satisfys the wilderness use criteria.

Tires can be damaged without real problems for the arena and are easily replaced for wilderness use. What happens to all that damaged rubber otherwise? Does jake have a plastics factory?

The primary criteria should be CHEAP cars. Preferably less than $5000. Then of course the prize might be worth less than a normal arena prize with greater risk of permanent damage to gangers. The prize could be a decent car instead, there could be prize money as well as the car. Maybe there could be double skill points for low skill characters as the risk is higher and the prize lower. Otherwise I don't see why you would be incentivised to enter.

If you want to do it properly of course you could simply monitor what is brought back from scouts and sold straight to Jake and use those vehicles. Obviously this would add extra complications but by definition those vehicles are driveable. Maybe Jake could hover at the gates to buy loot cars before players have a chance to strip them for bits. If you didn't bring the vehicle into town, you wouldn't have to pay the gate fee either. This could allow non-subs to get some benefit out of loot (but no-where near as much as subscribers)

Should Amateur night allow dual entries? There was an event at 10-21 13:22 that had two cars per gang.

That was part of the bug. Currently only symphonys are possible in fact.. but I'll add more ASAP.

I don't think it's a problem is it? Only the overall winner gets a car.

would maybe a Hotshot be ok for the ring?

a moose build might be nice? With lower armor than the blaster or DS making it a higher risk. An mg is pretty common, could go a standard moose build (twin mgs front + rear), with less armour than a death symph, that would be a hard fight to win. ahh... I think :)

Well, you get a more desperate feeling if youre all alone in there.. everyone wanting to win that car, not by teaming up and splitting it.

I would prefer one entry only

Was gonna join an amateur night combat last night. Winner keeps his car! Bring your own.... wha?

May wanna confirm that amateur night is always a stock car event. The right to keep my own car after the combat is somewhat less than exciting. ;)

That's tight Jee, this is Scav baby, you bring your car, and if you win you can keep it.  What's more hardcore than that!

Sorry Disagree here.

This forces players to actually play with/against each other which is one of the only things that attracts me to scav.

+1

The chance to win a car shouldn't be at the player's whim.
