I have just implemented 'Amateur Night' combats. I have also removed rental vehicles for Scavenger gangs. Anyone can enter Amateur Night, it's not only for Scavs.

You'll see Amateur Night combats start to turn up in the Events Diary. These will always be crappy vehicles, often pre-damaged, track supplied. The overall winner gets to keep their car.

incidentally, we need a few more arena combat builds for these.. currently I only had a couple of Symphony builds to work from.

Some arena combat builds with subcompacts and the other compacts/sedans would be nice, if anyone would like to suggest any? They have to be suitable for use in normal (not amateur-night) combats too.

How about the 'Killer Kart' - gotta have a Killer Kart after all :)

Sunrise or Phoenix Chassis (prefer Sunny)
-
3.2L engine
Reinforced Ram front
Medium Machine Gun front
4 Standard tyres

-
84 units grade C armour (F20 Re14 R20 L20 T5 U5)
-
Roll Cage
3 unit fueltank

Room for 2 MMG reloads - after all you need ammo as much as you need a car

After Amy Night rip out the roll cage and throw in a gunner seat to make it work in the wilderness. You could also rip off the reinforced ram and replace with a MG and reload. These also work as variants of the same design.

I will get on it Sam! (i love this stuff)

I will keep Combat rating under 100 and engines small(ish).

Subcompacts are not really suitable for the wilderness as they can really only fit one person, and a wilderness car needs at least two seats to drive home loot

Was always partial to the popcorn shrimp.

Since we dont have junk droppers, it gets a spike dropper in the back. Would be Alpha chassis. 1.2eng

Deathrace amateur nights? Hard to win DRs in Scav...

+1 - No lurking in back and sniping or you won't win the deathrace and get the car

Just as a comment, I like the pre-damaged idea... These can be RP'd as the "left overs" from full blown events - cheaper to use this way than to fix them for the next 'big' event. :)

I would imagine these events to be lower on weapons and higher on balls and guts.

More destruction derby type events, than shootouts.
Then it would make sense to lower the number of highly effective weapons and instead increase spikes, ram plates, plows, flamers, vehicle shotguns, flechettes, one shot rockets, rocket pods, racks, paint sprays, smokescreens and dropped weapons.

Also, lower amount of armor would ensure that there is plenty of blue and red text.

The most fun combats I have been in have been when most cars are out of ammo and front armor and youre trying desperately to protect your breaches while still ramming with your rear and sides.

I also think that one-man car works well. Even if it is your first scout car, drive it out and drive something else home.
We need more buggies and alphas in the game.

yeah... MMG? no way.. that's a hot weapon for amateur night... anything better than a standard MG doesn't belong in there imho... Rams? nice, but only if you're lucky... learn to bash... you got an engine block right? that can soak up some of that ramming damage ;) Roll cage? forget it, I'm JUST getting the option now with my 50 mech, and I've been rammin since I ran outta ammo ;)
Though I have yet to even try to get in one (just logging in now since this is applied) I'm not certain what the deal is... but do you have a car guys? then why are you trying to apply to amateur night? it's for carless bums...
(Blaer leaves as his two pennies lay there to be taken or discarded as they may)

Seems like fun events with a that mix ranging from desert tanks to muscle cars all thrown in the mix.

Also like that idea of ram cars with low armor, maybe damaged 5L engines, to get the smoke and power needed

and yeah why do we need to bring our own cars lol it's meant for people needing a ride right?

Can you clarify the amateur nights a bit? So I am a new scav gang (new player overall) and I've been using borrowed vehicles. Now I can't do anything with my scav gang until I find an amateur night and hope to win a vehicle some day?

How often are these amateur night races going to happen. As it is now I guess I'll how to go back to using my other gang, but I prefer to play scavenger.

there are alternatives... you could always trade people for a chassis and an engine? you're not gonna get anything SOTA, but you could get something workable... Have you not acquired a single vehicle yet?

No, I haven't and I'm not sure what I could even trade at this point. Is SOTA state of the art? I don't really want a handout or anything, but at this point I feel like I can't even play scavenger unless I want to just sit there and read my gang's stats. If there was a chance to compete for a vehicle daily that would be enough. As it is I'll go play in normal for now.

I see you are relatively new - you should certainly only play normal.  I find scavenger somewhat frustrating in difficulty and time consumption...I could not imagine for you.
