Garage fees and lockup fees will start being charged to your gangs, each week, starting this Friday morning 3.50am server time (approx).

Garage fees are based on the total value of your vehicles.
Lockup fees are based on the total bulk of items in your lockup.

These fees also vary by town: they're cheapest in Elmsfield, cheap in Somerset, and more expensive in the truckstops.

These fees only apply to subscribers, and don't apply if you have 'vacation mode' set.

As an indicator of what to expect, see below. Note that it should be fairly easy to trim down your expenses by selling off all those extra tyres, machine guns etc. in your lockup, and selling any surplus vehicles.

I will re-post the current expected fees in 2 days time, so that you get a good indication of what effect any spring-cleaning you carry out in the meantime will make.

While I really like this addition, I'm curious about something: what is the reasoning behind basing the garage fees on the total value of our vehicles? Do garage fees include regular maintenance, perhaps? (This is assuming more expensive cars cost more to maintain, which might not always be the case)

Yes, that's right. Regular maintenance is important, as the climate in Evan is very unfriendly to your vehicles.

But also there's an element of security being paid for. Jake claims to protect your cars from thieves when they're in his garage, but who knows maybe it's just a protection racket  ;)

Whichever town they were most recently at defines their garage fee.

Are trade goods also taxed by bulk just like items?

Is it cheaper to store stuff in vehicle cargo or in the lock up?
A single tire , for instance ?

It depends on the bulk and value of the item. If it's bulky and cheap, it's better inside a vehicle; if its valuable and compact, its better in the lockup.

I'm already trying to calculate how many npcs need to die to fund my car collecting habit. "nooo Sabre dogs! Come back, I only need your cars and carcasses, so I can pay for more stuff!" I'm sure there is a lesson in there somewhere about avarice, but I choose to ignore it.

Anyways, I was wondering, since the fees are based on the value of the vehicles, and the cost of the vehicles are higher in the "cheaper" towns and vice versa, are the garage fees REALLY cheaper in elms and somerset compared to gateway and badlands?

Would be great to be able to get the summary information you are providing on a town by town basis, either in the "info" page or at the mechanic's shops in the towns.

So anyone want to buy some cars? :D (my babies!)

Great system, should be a good improvement. I guess I should get my pick up out of the truckstop though, that could hurt over an extended period!

The fees are based on the 'true' value of your vehicles, rather than the local market cost. So yes, garage fees really are cheapest in Elmsfield  ;)

I've added info. to your 'My Gang' page, so your lockup fees are shown. I've also made it so that if you view a vehicle while visiting a mechanic shop, you'll see its current weekly garage fees.

The reason I didn't do this is because there's a few heavy-duty SQL queries going on for this, and I don't want to unnecessarily load the server just because you have opened up your gang page.

What I can do however is put a button on your gang page: "Show Total Garage Fees" ?
