This is a new feature I have been discussing with the rules council: NPCs that spawn some of their vehicles part-way through the combat.

Initially, this will only ever happen during an assassination combat - so it's entirely your decision whether you want to test it.

We'll see how this plays out over the next week or two, and decide how commonplace to make it and/or what changes are needed.

Sounds good!

Is there any possibility that we'll have the same ability?
It would be cool if halfway through a solo scout we could bring in a couple of cars to alter the tide of battle.

Would also be super cool in PvP :)

Is the second additional CR? Or is it a portion of the original CR?

It will usually add up to more than 100%, but the initial spawn does have less than normal

I tried this new option out just now. I brought a 148 scout to assassinate a Hammerstein leader in Elmsfield. I rolled 50 miles. I did everything I could to keep the odds managable.

Despite that, my 343 CR squad initially faced 423 CR worth of enemy vehicles. That's 23.3 % more than me in the first wave. After 40 turns another car showed up bringing the sum total of enemy CR to 551, 60.6 % more than me.

This was an Elmsfield scout. Virtual Noobville. I suspect I'd be completely overwhelmed in towns further south. As it stood I'd likely have been killed if the AI had reacted a tad smarter.

Keep in mind, I don't have car cannons, I don't drive buzzers, I don't lazily drive away and expect the enemy to follow into my crosshairs. That's not my style. Perhaps if it were, adding more enemy would enhance my experience or something. Ramp up my loot quotient.

But I don't have this kind of equipment. For some odd reason, some communists who will remain nameless tend to always get unleashed on camps that might possibly be able to generate these nice tidbits for me.

Now the PVE side is going to get ratcheted up to the point of suicide? Well, I hope the buzzer drivers appreciate the sacrifice little guys like me get to make to ensure you have your fun.

... And I still didn't kill the leader. I get to go out again.

I know its only supposed to be assassination but I just took out a 290 CR scout squad (no assassination) with a 219 scout from Somerset and got 476 CR which seemed unusual.

How many vehicles were in your squad?

We have no intention of crushing newer players with this, it's likely it will indeed only be commonplace further south.

edit: Also.. assassinations are only normally available on higher fame gangs, so this skewed things also. I say 'normaly', because I temporarily  changed this rule for the extra assassination missions I just created, in order to get some in every town.

I had two pickups and a phoenix.  119 CR + 119 CR + 105 CR.

It's definitely much more of a challenge and I can see a lot of folks benefitting from the change further south.  Folks that run out of targets before they run out of ammo and feel sad. 

Personnally, I tend to run out of armor before I run out of targets and shed scat.  I'm glad to hear that the intent is to establish these two-stagers further south.

Since people are/were complaining about traders being too easy, maybe you could add 2-stage spawns to trader scouts as well.
