The following has just been passed thru the Rules Council. I'll be implementing it ASAP:

Raise CR of paintguns to 16

Remove jamming effects entirely

Make accuracy and driving effects much stronger: a car painted once will typically half its gunnery and driving skills; twice will quarter the skills, etc. The effect of multiple hits will primarily increase the effectiveness, with only a small effect on how long the paint lasts for (adding just 1 extra turn of duration per hit).

Paint from one paintgun hit should last for about 2-4 turns, from one paintspray for 3-5 turns, and from a ped paintrifle for 0-2 turns.

The entire vehicle will continue to be affected, rather than the facing that's 'hit'.

and what about targetting through a paint cloud? accuracy effect like smoke?

Guess no effect on smoke with this change? Would be good to reiterate its current effects?

Targeting thru paint and smoke is the same, yes. Smoke lasts longer though. Both have a very strong effect on accuracy (stronger than 2x stacked paint hits, in fact)

What is the affect on accuracy?

% to hit, dropped skill, same as a moving vehicle?

What is the calculation using to compute that accuracy drop?

Hard to say.. it's quite a complex mix of factors (something like 12-15 factors in total) that includes multipliers as well as linear adds/subtracts, so the overall effects aren't totally separable.

It certainly involves multiplying stuff, using base 10.  :cyclops:

Doesnt this make paint sprays and HPS kinda...pointless :o

You can only snag someone with a paint spray if they are right on your butt...

...if they are right on your butt, how can they miss even at 50/25% effectiveness? :thinking:

Good point johnny, it doesn't seem to do much at close range obviously.

Just finished a scout where the AI had a Da Vinci and a Wurzel, I brought a sonic with a paint gun because we wanted to test the changes and I got several guns blocked messages like before on the rear mounted PG but also on the Apache.

Pretty sure I had the latest patch but maybe not.

There hasnt been any discussion on this DT. Maybe this could be re-evaluated after the new changes have been tested by the community for a bit.

I guess I'm confused on the 0-2 turns for paint rifles. Does the 0 mean that it acts in the same turn, but not the next, i.e If I hit them first with the paint, it has an effect on their driving/shooting for the remainder of the turn?

Or does it mean it just has no effect?

Anywho, this should make ped scouting more risky and possibly more exciting. We'll See!

0-2 duration for paint rifles tells me there's a 33% chance of no effect, 33% chance of one turn duration, and 33% chance of 2 turn duration.

This is correct, I think.....

There is a CHANCE that one of the 3 possibilities will occur depending on your gunnery skill/Dexterity/Speed. The higher the skills and attributes, the better the chance of a positive outcome from the offensive firing side of the equation.

I don't use paint so I can't verify my opinion here..
I WOULD like to hear from others who do use the weapon for their input.

Someone right behind you isn't necessarily shooting at you, in nasty dogfights.
Regular Paint Spray makes a nice ersatz smokescreen - also takes only 20 space!
