Heh, I was wondering about that.

On the other hand, I believe metro has a 375-skill scout, so if anyone should be able to manage that sort of success rate, it's him.

On the third hand, I've yet to lose a car doing the same route with a 20 - 150 skill scout. That's probably more of an issue.

Please do so in your own thread and not in my squad announcement thread. Thank you in advance.

It should be pretty damn easy to simply run and evade an enemy...especially if you are faster or have passives dropping, combined with smart use of terrain.
I suppose you could improve AI pathing to the stage where a travel encounter would last until someone's fuel ran out....but I don't have any interest in testing my endurance of sitting at a PC for 2 full days thanks ;)

Show me some stats for the success/kill ratios in combat scouts and then we can talk :p

before today, I made a mill this week from 2 encounters, that seems a bit easy to me. I'm not complaining now, don't get me wrong, easy money is easy money, and after my stupid dummy spit after that PvP, I went on holidays just for training day, so hey, bring on the cash in a bag and does anyone think I could possibly fit another comer in this sentence?

goat, its easy for you because you are very good. you got very good by playing a lot. Increasing difficulty for you crushes newer players. If you want a challenge start using the lesser cars, do dangerous stuff. Go into the death races with your 400+ gunner. You'll find plenty of challenge there. And danger. I have been working with Chevaliers, Motorhomes, Estates, etc. I've lost several gangers lately doing this and suffered injuries I would not have suffered had I stuck to Apaches and what I know works.

no it shouldnt.. that is stupid. If you are running small fast cars there will pirates out there with small fast cars with a gun on it.

scouting skill should not make the difference anymore as you shouldnt be able to truce enemy FACTIONS even with a great scout.

and if you want the stats for players against AI ask Sam but personally I never get beaten. Even when i play with small cars. even when i am deliberately foolhardy. It takes doing some incredibly stupid things or being utterly pissed to manufacture even some reasonable damage to my vehicles.

the game has always been too easy outside SS... in ss its harder because people are playing with new characters and new players and nobody has suggested that the difficulty there should be ramped up.

Just hike the number of ambushes and that will help a lot. make the matching of engine sizes and chassis better so the AI can always keep up.

I have JS on ignore.. unfortunately i can see what he wrote when replying to other people... it reminds me why I have him on ignore.. completely brainless  :stare:

I put together some nastier interceptors in the suggestions forum about a year ago, for use down south. I don't think anything's really going to help until the AI pathfinding improves though. I mean, the Dragon's Breath is pretty much the best design possible, and I'm not scared of them significantly more than say a mutant merc, because the main factor in fighting the AI is getting them tangled up in the scenery in various ways.

Not that that's going to stop me adding more stuff to the suggestions forum now you've put the idea in my head.

At some point the AI is as good at pathing as the player...and the engine sizes are the same....then we just end up with an endless chase?

The NPC should definitely NOT be tailored to what the PC brings in terms of engine size....there's already a decent mix of chasis types and random luck makes more sense. There's no rationale at all for them matching up with you...or we'd end up with lorries ambushed by lorries.

Sounds dull.

Ambushes are good in theory but tend to fall into the..

A. It's an ambush! However they're in a poor position and I am faster than them so I escape.

B. It's an ambush! They spawn right on you and you die or it's a pure freak of fate that let's you escape at all.

It's a bit all or nothing.

If you want excitement....stick 2L engines in your travel cars and enjoy the excitement...I'll stick to running away...fast ;)

I'm not too worried about the AI getting too good, because:

1) No matter how well the AI learns to drive, the player's always going to be smarter and more creative. Maybe you need to keep coming up with new tricks in order to win - I consider that a good thing

2) You always have the option to strip off armour and reduce weight. The AI cars need to carry guns, so a fast courier should always be able to outrun them

3) Maybe it means people need to start adding guns to their couriers in dangerous regions. I consider that a good thing too. I like the idea of DW having harsh, lawless regions - not everywhere, but there should be some places where a 4L unarmed pho isn't a guaranteed safe ticket.

I do agree that lorry travels can be dull, but I think adding fast interceptors just means you need to do a bit of shooting before you leave the bulk of the AI behind.

I also sort of agree about the ambushes. Yes, players would lose more, but not due to their own mistakes. I don't think the AI actually needs to get that much better before people start getting seriously punished for things they can get away with now.

sam has ALWAYS said he never envisaged people running without guns.. you should always have guns on your cars... thats the place we inhabit. I'm sure if there was an easy way to make travelling harder Sam would implement it like a shot.

My thoughts exactly - had convoy escort last 5 hours last night (two encounters). Not complaining, just do not need that for ordinary travels, need to sleep...

That's one of the beautiful things about Humans, we tend to do things that are unexpected.    Especially when "visions" are concerned.  Sam is smart enough to let things develop and adjust without arbitraily and ridgidly forcing his particualr "vision" on the rest of us.  Are you?

*MY* vision of DW has giant nekkid boobs on the side of my lorry.

*Sam's* vision of DW has forced me to realize that this will never happen.
