All hail the Renowned Buccaneer "Legend". Not breaking any new ground here. Legend is a B armored Buccy with a MMG and GG. That kept the recoil to acceptable but still noticable levels. Very fast car, even for all that weight and decent maneuverability. Buccy's are good looking models and drive well, but are a bit on the flimsy side. They tend to be a bit expensive for a newer player. My first I bought in FL after one of my early characters got captured and sent to FL slave pits. After getting free I blew nearly every penny I had to buy a buccy and drive home. the guy had an actual 0 in scouting, so I figured it was all or nothing. Somehow, and I still have no idea really, I survived 3 encounters plus a gates. The tires were about done, and so were my nerves, but it was one of the things that hooked me on this game. Legend may be that chassis, I lost track, so I'll just claim it is for the good story...

All Hail the Renowned Marley "Jibe". Marleys are fun, they are fast an maneuverable, but not very tough. This one had a PG and a MRP. I gave up the reload for the MRP as a reloaded PG is rarely useful in SS. Not that an MRP is a game changer, it did come in handy on occasion. Probably should have front mounted it and used it as a mini flechette type thing. Not a terribly exciting career for jibe, it avoided most bad situations, its maneuverability and speed got it out of most bad spots. I'm sure it's a much better racer than combat car. This one had a 1.6 engine.

This car completes the sub-compact project cars. I have one Renowned of each of that class.

Oh man, its getting into the real squirrely ones now.  Took my McKenzie out with 2x MGs and a 3L Rot in it.  It did ok, but we gave it a Bandit all alone to beat up on.  That one will take some care.  I don't have a bus or a tanker in the garage so those will take some further efforts.  And it seems that the Squad Car may not happen as they don't appear to be "getable".  Working on a Symph, a Pike and a Merc now.  The Merc is a pretty good car, I used it a ton early on, then never touched one, but they are really stable and decently tough.

lol well, haven't run out yet, but I've got 34 of 55 Chassis done so far with some of the more exotic types to go.

Not to take away from whatever the rules of your self-imposed challenge are, but you do know that cars can become renowned by staying in town events, right? In other words, you could do nothing but enter pro races with your McKenzie and still gain renowned status with it.

Yep, very true.  That is another class of renowned vehicle entirely.  In fact I'd say it's well moreimpressive than any of my PvE renowned.  If you entered enough races to get renowned in a McKenzie, my hats off to ya.  Same for a deathrace/rally car.  Those are vs humans for the most part and any car that lasts that long is a great achievement.  Mine all PvE so far.

Edit: I believe there are several people who have town only renowned vehicles out there.

If you need a tanker we can work something out. I'm out of buses at the moment, apparently they don't make good ram vehicles.

Yeah. I've got a Hotrod that is renowned. I may have taken it out of town for a travel once but I know that it's never fought. It seems like it didn't take all that many matches for it to become renowned, though it has been around since early 2007....

Some of your renowned scouting vehicles are really something else. Well done.

BTW, this is not really my thread, I was hopeing others would announce their triumphs and some lessons learned/setups etc abot their cars, even if it's an old lesson there are lots of new people who can benefit.

All Hail the Renowned Pike "Parliament". Wow, these are cool cars that suck. Great model, big car, pretty fast, but ick. This one had a 3.2 V8 an HMG and a GG. Pikes bounce, they bounce when you look at them. I had one very early in my playing, used it twice and sold it. So it was left to be one of the last muscle cars I worked to Renowned. I probably would have had better luck with a MMG/GG but I wanted some punch. It's probably a better racer than scout vehicle, and I've seen one used to good effect in a rally as the suspension allows some silly off roading.

Best use I've found for a Pike is an Engine repairer to haul 95-100 bulk to camps.

All Hail the Renowned Flail Dispute and the Renowned Mercenary Soprano.

First the Flail. I really want to like the Flail more than I do. Great model, cool car from the 80s. Lots of room, strong armor, pretty fast. But wow, does it have issues with recoil and its maneuvering is not so hot for a muscle. Still the bulk makes it attractive. Unfortunately, the recoil makes using all that space interesting. One of teh cool things about the large bulk muscle cars is you can put a 5L or 5LV8 in them and some smaller weapons and they are fast as heck, but their bite is limited. Or you can put in more weapons and 3.2V8, but again, with the Flail, recoil is something you have to constantly manage. I had a HMG/GG and a 3.2 V8, which let me put in 3 gangers and some reloads. Having teh luxury of a dedicated driver in a muscle is interesting, and not really required, but I set it up this way to avoid, you guessed it, recoil problems. I also messed around a bit wiht a dual RL set up, limited reloads was an issue, but recoil was minimal. Not a bad set up, but it had trouble puttitng down enemies and often needed help to finish them off after the obligatory initial rocket misses and runnin gout of ammo.

For the Merc I went HMG/HMG initially. Good set up, only two gangers and 2 reloads. But this guy hits hard, your basic Freelance. Later I went to a MMG and HMG, more reloads, still hit pretty hard and let me switch to Gunnery training for one of the crew. Change was driven more by trianing needs than any issue with the HMGs. This car is solid and handles recoil really well. Both these set ups are excellent for new players, highly reccomended starter set up.

JS, The best setup for a "Heavy" combat muscle such as a flail or osprey if you are going for power but with some ammo and cotrol, the best weapon setup would be something like a HMG/RL combo.

The recoil from one HMG isn't all that bad, and the RL gives you extra punching power, you let the driver fire the HMG and you'll never be completely out of ammo.

If you dont use a dedicated driver, in a flail you'll get an extra clip of both types of ammo in there.
Oh, also, you play to much, keep going :cyclops:

Yup, good set up, but don't like the RL for training. Also don't like it for low skill gangers which what I use in most of these project cars.
