This is a great place to ask. What exactly leads to being reknown. Is it just scouts, or do travels and pro events count too?

So when you've got one of every chassis available to you at renowned, do you start back through for the Famous ratings?

lol, I don't know, maybe.  I thought the renowned thing would be enough of a challenge.  I'm into the oddball cahssis now, and I'm taking losses at times, which is cool.  If I stuck to Apaches and Buzzers, doubt I would lose much.  but extracting the MH form ambushes and bad situations has been exciting.

I am just guessing, but I think vehicle fame is a bit like courage for your gangers in that you get it by being in danger. Travels would count but only if you had encounters. My best guesstimate is that it takes about 50 encounters.

All Hail the Renowned Chomper "Hoax". I started this game with several Chompers, got tired of my Windy's getting hammered in big scouts, so wanted some tougher armor. Armor was tough, but keeping them upright proved tougher, and I was running a HMG/GG combo, that thing bounced. When I got my first Apache I sold the Chompers, and never looked back, till now. Taking those lessons to heart, I armed my project Chomp with 2xMMG. This reduced recoil to acceptable levels, and let me cross in Gunnery. It's one of the Clown Fish skins and spent it's entire career in SS. It even had room for 2 reloads and a LRR on the side. Not a bad vehicle actually, and I recommed the build to new guys who want SUV armor at a Moose price. Beware, it can line decently, but it's not an Apache.

Fighting high fame gangs, yes town events (pro) count too.  The best event is the arena.

All Hail the Renowned Turin "Dauntless". This car represents the investment of somewhere around 50 mil, counting camp purchase, build up, sponsorship (and repair after Joels attack). The Turin is an awesome car. This one has 2 Lasers, a 5L V12 and A armor. It achieved Renowned status through scouting, not in SS, but initially in Gateway and lately in Badlands where it is the scout vehicle for the Hitmen's B Team. Turins are blazing fast, corner like they are on rails and can take a decent amount of punishment. Basically a super Osprey, though the terrain clearance is slightly less, they are faster and handle better.

Additionally, this is the halfway mark for the quest to have a renowned car from each chassis. 28 and counting.

All Hail the first renowned Marley in Evan! Ullr, named after the Norse snow god. Ullr started it's career in SS with a side mounted MG, orbiting battles and generally showing off to new guys what use a small fast car with limited firepower can be. The Legions star capped scout of the time drove the Marley all the way to her deathracer spec before leaving for greener pastures. Ullr was then left alone for months real time until I needed a way to cross train handguns. I then put a Heavy Rocket and a Mini Rocket Pod on the front of it for emergencies, and used it to take my paint rifling peds to the top of large hills. I has gotten my gang more points in handguns than any other vehicle in our history.

All hail the first ever (To my knowledge) Legendary subcompact, The Legendary Venom!
This little sonic has been with me as long as I can remember ever since I saw it' perty little skin one scout. It has since been repainted but lost none of its charm. With a single PG and a single driver, this car makes a great ballistics AND driving trainer. It's also one of the safest cars in evan, because well, nobody thinks a little sonic can be a big threat.

All Hail the Renowned Roadrunner "Extemporaneous". This car was loaded out with a 3L Rot, MMG and GG, carried two gangers and 2 MMG/1 GG reload. It spent its whole time in SS, occasionally as a trader chaser but mostly just a supporting/scout carrying muscle car and Gunnery trainer. It was decently fast with the 3L Rot, but nothing impressive. High end speed was good, but accel was a bit anemic for the smallish engine, to be expected. These cars handle somewhat uniquely and have a strange recoil profile. They turn a lot like a Turin, but without the wide stance. Which is to say they mostly turn like they are on rails, but will spin out much faster than a Turin, and when they spin out its impressive. For the recoil, its kinda weird as they seem like one or two tires are glued to the ground while the others bounce around. that's not a great description I know, but thats the best I could come up with. The model is pretty cool, but it's a bit on the small side scale wise (put this next to the buccy model and they seem like two different scales completely). Armor is actually pretty tough, only got breached a few times while I learned the handleing. Not a great scout car, but it was interesting.

All Hail the Renowned Box Van "Boom Box". This one has been done many times I'm sure. But I wanted to share the build as it was one of the most successful SS support cars I've used so far. It had a 3.2 V8, 2 PGs rear, 2 GG front, 2 MD one on each side, and a LR on each side. The light rockets were there to make sure I could get the MDs on the rear/side slot. I carried 4 reloads for each weapon (bit of overkill) and had extra room for loot and 3 gangers. 4 gangers could be used as well which allows firing the PGs and the MDs all at once if its being chased closely while dropping mines. The mines are just good fun, and not really needed, but they discourage chasing too close and can break up incoming formations while the PGs provide cover from fire. The GGs let it add some offensive punch late inteh ball game if needed. This one was alot of fun.

Did that really work for you? I've found that on front weapons even when I move the right to the left it's actually still shooting from the right side...

It worked on the side mounts no problem.  I put the LRs in the "up" psotion and the MDs were on the rear/side slot.  that helped dtop the mines and not run over them.  I could drop mines in pretty heavy turns and not hit them.  Braking hard was the only time I tended to hit my own mines, and that happens on pure rear mounts anyway.

I didn't know the game even differentiated between slots on the same side. This is good to know!

Hey Sam,

If I have a vehicle getting close to becoming renowned, and then I change the name, does that reset it's fame accruing?

All Hail the Renowned Alpha "Snippet". Terrible car. Horrible. Do not use these things. Slow, can't maneuver, no armor to speak of. Yikes. This car had a PG rear and a LRR. Was somewhat effective before the paint change. After it became somehting of a liability. More CR, and less effective it laid the paint smoke screen to cover for the others. It was fun, and let some of my guys train courage because they were terrified to go to combat in it. Glad I can now park it though.

All Hail the Renowned Pickup Screech. These are decent cars for scouting. Not great but decent especially if you are on a budget. This one had a RL and a MMG. It can carry more wiht all the bulk it has, but the recoil is too much. Dual RL might be even better but I didn't like the 10 round deal as I was traning some newer guys. but as a supprt car with 2xRL I can see this thing being nice. With good gunners of course. I also used it to carry a couple extra reloads of CC/HCR so I could take my apaches out and not worry about reloads. Couple drawbacks. Only two gangers. Maneuverable, but can be knocked about (as you have seen when you have hit the NPC varieties), and its slowish. I had a 2L Rot in it at first, not bad, but this guy tended to get beat up and I had it damaged early on, so I went back to the standard 2L. I had several gangers injured in this thing, so be ready for some pain with a PU.
