So I bought my first paint gun. I've got a ballistics guy at 160...been training him forever.

SO I'm thinking 3.2l merc, paint gun and MMG in the front with 2 reloads for each, driver gunner.

Sound good for my paint car? Should I mount the PG in the back? or is it better to go in the front?

Thanks.

I usually run a 4 car SS solo squad.

2 BPUs with big guns.
2 sonics with rear mounted paint guns.

The sonics can fit the PG plus 2 reloads, only room for one guy but it trains up driving and ballistics. The sonics accelerate fast, can reach a decent enough top speed and can turn on a dime. I've been running with the same 2 sonics for about 4 months now because they rarely ever get shot and never get breached.

Name: Morticia
Chassis: Hearse
Engine: 3L Rotary
Armor: F:27 Le:28 Ri:28 Re:30 T&B: 4&3
Weapons: F: MG, MMG Re: PG, HMG
Cargo: 1 reload for each weapon
Crew: 1 driver 1 gunner
Fuel: 6 units.

Could also make it two PGs on the rear or really any other combo you wanted.

I prefer PG on the rear so I can run and thoomp at the same time.

Forget the 160 ballistics guy, trian a new Ballistics guy with your PG. Getting a Ballistics guy to 50 in SS is easy, especially with paint. Give him Rapid Reload, then send in another one.

I have to agree.  I always run Paint Guns in pairs, it's very effective.  A single paint gun doesn't always get the job done but even with unskilled gunners I can paint most targets in 2-3 rounds and frequently get a first shot hit.  You only have to put the paint in front of him where he has to drive through it or on him directly.  I get my best results when I target the car, not the ground in front of him.

Just a quick point you can take a merc with 2 paint guns and 2 more mercs and get a 2 car spawn out of ss its a pretty safe way to train up gangers if you have a good scout.

windy2 two pg rear. 2 gangers and 3 reloads with a 3.2l

with 2 pgs you can paint whatever you want with ease, even with low skilled gangers.

I've also used the sonic with one driver and one pg. these work really well since the low CR will have most npc's ignore you, even when you are easily the closest target.

I always put my paint in the rear, running away is much easier when they cant shoot you.

cool, thanks everyone...

SO I'm not cool enough yet to have BPU's in my arsenal. I'm also just starting to play with 3 car solo scouts as well.

I was going to buy another paint gun and follow everyones advice about having 2 rear facing PG's on my merc.....but the "buy weapons from players" table is all screwed up in firefox....so I'll figure that one out.

But here's some more questions...

1. How long does the paint cloud last?

2. What's the max range of a PG?

3. Now I only went out once with a CGL on a scout with Tango, I quicjkly realized CGL's suck...even with an awesome ballistics guy....
So is it better to target and shoot at a vehicle? or pick a spot on the ground and put paint in in their way?

Thanks again, I'm a casual player so I'm still a newb.

working for me in Chrome

Answer key

1.  2 rounds? maybe
2.  100-120.  I start firing at 120 or less.  Range is longer if you are elevated.
3.  Aim at the vehicle.

CGLs don't suck. They don't do a lot of damage, but they are a support weapon and a way to get your ballistics up without paint, while doing some damage.

They are actually pretty cool when you have a few of them pounding away. Ok... 'pounding' might not be the word... more like 'plinking' away.

I do enjoy the sound though. lol.

I'm currently using a van in my solo scouts with 2x CGL in the rear and 2x paint gun on the left side. I put my 2 ballistics gunners in there and bury the vehicle in the middle of my 6-car squad.

When the scenario starts, I run the squad away from the bad guys for a while, plinking away with CGLs the whole time. They're usually bunched up pretty good at the start, so I can do a bit of damage. Then when I get to the spot where I'll make my stand, I drive the artillery van a little bit past the main squad, pull a bit to the side, and switch my gunners to the paint guns. The idea being to paint them up as they close.

So far, that's worked pretty well.

120 range on paintguns? Sheesh, I don't think I've ever hit at range over 90. But then again my ballistics gunners are both still < 100 skill.

wow...thanks all for chiming in.

I went with 2 PG's in a Merc...2 relaods each and a big fuel tank.

I scout 2 Winny II's (Hmg / GG ) with the paint car and wow...

run, stop...paint! paint! paint! kill! kill! kill!

It's just so much fun..

somehow two PG's is three times as good as one. I think it's got to do with turns lost switching targets. If you can paint a car with 2-3 shots it only takes a turn of targeting, 1-2 turns of firing then it's painted. If you use one gun it might take 4-5 turns to paint one car. Plus if the targets are close your misses can hit other cars.
