Every scout I run I use a Dustup with a left mounted FG and 3 reloads. My scout drives it and usually he finishes off at least 3 people dead once I got breached cars. Only room for a 1.2L so they barely break 80mph down a hill. Good gunnery practice since he's always close, he hits alot.

To be fair, the armor on the Dustup has almost as much total stopping power as the armor on a Windsor/II.

oh well no room for the subcompacts now

I disagree.

S253060

Won a scout with a sonic with a front mounted MMG. Solo.

In SS, you always have the option of hunting traders, and basically getting a 1 on 1 encounter (when the trade vehicle runs). And, with the faction system, you can still be a 'good guy' and hunt Ironmongers and Dune Peddlers. In fact, that's pretty much what I suggest for newbies that want to solo. Get a car, go after traders in SS, and fight the escort. It's almost the equivalent of killing rats in most MMOs, only it's actually fun and challenging.

I know the 3 narrative missions that were around when I started really helped me with ideas, and allowed me some independence.

HAhahaa the hospital narrative could have made me quit in the first place. I had just built up my gang to an apache, a box van (in my minds eyes a van filled with guns blazing all directions was an amazing thing) and some semi decent other cars.

Sent my whole gang to elms in those cars. They had to walk quite a bit. :D
Havent tried a narrative since then and I only run one car per scout.

BUT I think the biggest problem right now is quite contrary to Jet's idea of subcompacts ever being worth anything.

I THINK THE BIGGEST PROBLEM RIGHT NOW IS THE LACK OF REWARDS IN SS.

Back when I was new, I lost a lot of gangers and hardware, but you could join some vets in a rental and you just might, just with a little bit of luck you might bring home an apache or a v8 or a Hgat if you had some luck with looting, and that little gain would reward all those bitter losses.

Right now, you scout SS and there's no feeling of reward, any noob can get a phoenix in 2 or 3 scouts and that's where the gain curve stops. From there to solo scouting bl is quite a jump...

Like crazy payouts from the NPC market? Even the poorest loot will get you enough money to buy decent items on the player market - no matter how outrageously priced.

Gateway.  It is not that hard, and you can take Apaches out of there all the time, as well as HGGs and sometimes other things.

Like others have said, you can get good prices for loot in SS. If you weigh your risks vs rewards right, you can make a decent profit. I was able to bring my gang from around $100k to $400k by soloing in SS. Granted, most of that was using HFTs, which preserve internals really well...

SS is the easiest place to make money by far. you can get some bick ticket items in teh south, but they are harder to get, and the cost outlay is much more than in SS. Take a couple of HMG Apaches. A paint car, and scout 25 miles. In a week you can make bank.

As JS pointed out, the rarer loot is available if you are willing to take a bigger risk in the South. If you aren't willing to take that bigger risk pay for your high-end equipment on the player market in SS.
