It reduces the weight of the vehicle, so yes it will go faster than a B-armored TT.

Perhaps more important is the ability to accelerate faster going uphill. Getting heavy vehicles like lorries, fire engines, and trash trucks out of harms way can be critical to the success of an encounter. The difference between A grade armor and B grade can determine whether your trash truck makes it up the slope with the rest of your squad or gets stuck halfway.
