Reduce CPU usage option, doesn't seem to work for me

was surprised, because i downloaded the windows version on my XP bootcamp partion, and noticed my computer was just as hot and processor challenged running dw, and then i tried the reduce processor from the options menu , and lo an behold! it dropped radically !!

went from 50% activity to 8%!!!

it's great, would it be possible to make it work on mac as well? or maybe i don't know how to do it?

Also what is the difference with this option on, asides from the above?
