I'm curious to know how Dark Wind: Tactical is being used by other players, and particularly how and why it is used.

If you use DW:T for anything besides the listed options, please elaborate below.

Personally, I never use DW:T (which is a big part of why I'm curious about it) because I feel it takes away from the risk-laden travels and scouts in regular DW. I feel that if I practiced a particular scenario over and over again, though I might be more successful in the end, I would also lose the spontaneous thrills of uncertainty.

Also, I categorically refuse to simulate the use of super-rare equipment until I've actually earned it through regular DW play. Again I feel it would take away from the magic of finally obtaining these rare goodies.

About a year ago I set up a series of weekly DW:T events, with a continuing story-line. It ran for about 4 weeks, was fun..

Voted almost never - enjoyed the events that were done with the story line - were a lot of fun done in good spirits I think.

I'd love to see more Tac story-arc events, as I think the roleplaying potential in them is pretty vast.

In the past, I've used them to create one-off events that I would probably never do in regular DW. The 'Bus Pirates' one comes to mind. Two busses with side mounted RLs.... Fun Times!

I think having some simple scripting options would make things more interesting...

Would there be a way to adapt DW:T into a narrative mission builder? Or do players already have other tools to do that? I'm just trying to think of ways DW:T could be emphasized.

It seems like the casual players we might have expected would favor DW:T prefer to play casually in the "real" DW world. That leaves DW:T virtually deserted, which is a real shame because I find it has awesome potential.

I strictly use DW tactical to test things out such as which engine would be faster in a vehicle.

I'm planning on looking into this, and I agree - it's a pity how little it is used considering the work it took!


I've started to use it a little ore to test out skin designs that are too big to display in the showimages (TT, Lorry, etc)

A big part of it is that the interface is rather daunting.

Also - is it possible to play against the AI, or only other players? Not seeing somewhere to set that up, though it could just be that I haven't looked in the right place.

I'm using it to test car designs.

To add AI you have to add people to the enemy's cars. Pre-designed cars don't come with people in them (wish they did, and then just offer the option to change them).
