You never know...

Torque does have code for flying vehicles, so it's quite feasible. Gyrocopters were always on my "wish list" but a propeller plane would be equally cool. Flying vehicles would have to be rare, and very limited in terms of armour and weaponry of course.

Just thinkin, but if you added a flying beastie first (say some kind of harpy, eagle or dragonfly), it wouldn't unbalance anything for the players, would add some nice flavor, and stretch the muscles of that code and bring the kinks to the surface in regards to AI and such.

Ped death from above would be cool, and with your occasional bug spawns in scouts, we could get a feel for what it's like to have to target things in the sky with little danger of being annihilated.

These are all awesome! My frustration with more models is that while they are very cool to see in scouts and town events, if they are similiar to the current vehicles that we have, why would I want to keep them?

I have a VERY large assortment of cars in SS. MOST of them are the typical chassis that get used MOST of the time. Musclecars, Apaches, a few Landys, a few Buzzers, a few windsors. I have other scouting chassis that I keep for their custom paint schemes like a couple of Cheva's, a cadrona, a moose etc. Getting more models is always a nice change and I am always excited to see a rare chassis in the wild.

The frustrating part is they don't get used much by the player population because they aren't as solid as the SUV models are in a scouting situation. Sure, if you have a couple of Sniper 3 gunners in a dual Car Rifle sunrise that never gets close to the fight you can effectively scout with it. Using highly skilled gunners in a Siren or a Cheva and you will get them shredded on a regular basis during a typical scout.

I would be interested in finding out some statistics regarding the amount of use a given chassis receives on wilderness scouts by players. I would guess that many of the smaller chassis would be HIGHLY underused and consequently I feel would need some luvin sent their way to make them more viable. MORE models of smaller chassis that aren't going to get used by the player base seems like a waste to me unless it's only for the glam factor of seeing, and then shooting them to bits or racing them in a DR.

Now I know some of you vets are going to reply with something like, "I used an Estate for all my Elms to SS runs and my legendary Cadrona is a great example of a chassis that get's a ton of use!" I respond with: An accurate accout, but definitely more the exception than the rule!

Yeah, they're all nice (even the skyline). The last one (and of course the plane) won't work without some additional coding of course.
Woah, you made it sound like you were actually concidering to use the MRLS there for a second, stop getting my hopes up ;)

And the skyline, well, it's 0.99, I mean, why not give it a go?

Yeah, that is true... but that car would be worth it methinks, Now, if I could only find a lower poly count model...

This one is a 3k model, and looks great...

If you need even lower poly count, this beauty is a good one...

OK Longo how's this for a deal.. if you can convince goatstarer or BWGunner to make skins for it, I'll go ahead and buy the winnebago and get it ready for the game (might take a week or two).

Dr Mathias used to do most of the vehicle skinning, but since he's not around at the moment I can't really ask him.

Hell, I'll do one. And you can hold me to that.

Edit: With regard to the "three-part mesh" issue, can't you just ignore the Ladder and Vent meshes (using the default colorations for those), and just apply skins to the main body?

No, that's not the issue. The front, back, and sides of the vehicle itself are currently 3 different textures. I'll ask demonwhisperer if he'll do it as a favour, it'll probably only take him a few mins to fix it.

Wolfsbane also seems to be close to having solved the Google Sketchup - to - 3dstudio format transfer issue, which is really good news. That Ford Capri is a really sweet model...

Unfortunately I think the model is for the new Capri... I'm disappointed there aren't more 'retro' car models in the game, but that's my taste.
