I have just added the facility at the Firelight Tavern to request gladiator events. They schedule for 12 minutes time. Gladiator events will now no longer actually start if they have less than 4 characters registered.

euh the gladiator combat won't start if there are less than 4 characters or 4 players?

in ether case i'm not thrilled

So if you only got 2 peds sent to the pit, you have to wait till you get 2 more of your peds captured before you can start a glad combat by yourself?

and what if one of your gangsters get's more fame and exit sooner? that would leave you waiting around potentially a long time for other players to accidentally logon when you launched a a combat?

or can you add your own fresh recruits to attain the min 4 gangsters?

4 characters, not players.

This is to make sure it's a multiplayer event, Tinker. You need to find other player(s) in the lobby to do a gladiator event with you. You can add your own fresh recruits to bring it up to 3.

Minimum 2 players, exactly. Assuming they enter 4+ characters between them (they can enter 3 characters each).

Does this mean even the events scheduled in the Events Diary?

If so, I'd request that not be the case.

Do these still happen or does this replace that feature?


Related question: Since we can make non-league events on-demand do they still spawn on their own? If not, or if we make it where they don't, will that mean that more pro events will spawn?

Related PS : The custom event button in the lobby and the custom event option on the website do different things but have the same name. One should be changed. Perhaps the lobby button could say "Request Event", spawn event, etc.

Ah.  I can't see that because I only have captured characters there.

Which means that players with only captured characters can't spawn gladiator events since they 'can't perform any actions in this town'.

So we will still need scheduled gladiator events, and those should not be bound by the 'minimum 4 gladiators' requirement.

Having just watched a scheduled Gladiator Combat auto-terminate because there weren't enough participants, I have to say this system needs to be revisited.

I have one character in Firelight as a slave.  This means:

1.  I can't generate a Gladiator Combat because those are done from the Tavern, and I don't have access to it.

2. I now have to be extremely lucky so that:
a. The twice-daily scheduled Gladiator Combat events spawn at times I can play.
b. There are enough people with enough gladiators to prevent the event from immediately despawning when its scheduled time rolls around.

Given that usually 1-in-4 of the scheduled events (due to the way the times rotate) is at a playable time for me, I think this guy is going to be there for a while.

Actually, this doesn't really matter as much as you think it does.

Since it takes at least one other player to play the event anyway, all you have to do is ask in lobby if anyone wants to do a gladiator event and then just have them launch it instead of you.

It is still possible that all the gladiator players would be in the same position but I consider this situation to be rare. And even then you could simply ask anyone in the lobby who has even a single character in FL to launch the event for the two of you.

And failing that, you could still catch a scheduled event, though i think your chances of finding other FL players at some point to be much greater.

Remember, the intention of these all along was for multiple players, not as solo events.

yea but if you Cant at least to solos if there no other players around that is a huge handicap and not fair for people that aren't free 24/7.

A good compromise would be to keep the old system the way it was and in addition add the 4 ped minimum for the new system

So,

If there's anybody else in the Lobby who needs to do a Gladiator event, and
If they want to do the event right then (they aren't doing something else), and
If they have a non-slave character in FL (to spawn the event), and
If they have (or want to enter) enough characters to allow the event to launch,

then the player with only slaves in FL can play one of the multiple Gladiator events needed to generate enough Fame to get free.
