The Darkwind Dirge
Based on a Rally Track Deathrace (Sung to the tune of "Glory, Glory Hallelujah!") Listen to it here: Blood on the Risers This is a song taken from the US ARMY Airborne. They sing it in reverence for fallen comrades and to "get the juices flowing" right before leaping from a perfectly good aircraft! GO AIRBORNE!.......FIGHTERS...STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND!! The rookie driver stood there shaking, palms dripping so with sweat They strapped him in, made sure the belts were crossed across his chest He pulled the helmet tightly down, and swore at all the rest! And he aint gonna drive no more! (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! He pushed the pedal to the floor, as the starting light went green A prayer he whispered to himself, "My gunner eyes, be keen!" The screeching tires, the billowing smoke, the engines throaty scream And he aint gonna drive no more! (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! The first turn came up quickly, other drivers bumping him His place was third as they headed for the very tight hairpin He stomped his brake, turned hard left, kicking his ass into a spin And he aint gonna drive no more! (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! He mashed the accelerator, denting the floorboards The driver on his right pushed back, scratching his right door He cleared the turn in second place, but still he wanted more And he aint gonna drive no more! (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! He turned onto the straight, "Weapons Clear" then had been called He looked into the rearview and a tightness gripped his balls There were 20 odd machineguns looking to paint him on the wall And he aint gonna drive no more! (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! He made it to the canyon turn without a bullet fired The wheel becoming slippery, his grip becoming tired. If only he could finish this without becoming scarred And he aint gonna drive no more (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! Before his thought could clear the bullets were wizzing past his head He slowed up for the tight right turn, beyond the cliff ahead And as he turned it to the right he thought he tasted lead And he aint gonna drive no more (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) And he Aint gonna drive no more! (Sung solemnly and slowly) They hosed him from the drivers seat and his brains from the dashboard. The gore that was him rested upon the cold, wet concrete floor The clean-up crew pleased with the job, "good thing it aint a Ford!" And he aint gonna drive no more! (chorus) Gory, Gory that's a helluva way to die (X3) AND HE AINT GONNA DRIVE NO MORE! ======================= Not just for Subscribers! |

Hmm. Very nice song but too long. I came up with a shorter song called Deathrace of Cambreadth based off Heather Alexander's March of Cambreadth. www.heatherlands.com
Deathrace of Cambreadth Machineguns flash, rockets sing Shattered armors' piercing ring Motors roar around the field Race those drivers til they yield Midnight oil, a tyres blown Fight to make this track your own Sound the horn and let rounds fly How many of them can we make die? Follow others as you're told Make thier pirate blood run cold Scout til you die or drop A force like ours is hard to stop Close your mind to stress and pain Drive til you're no longer sane Let not one damn car pass by How many of them can we make die? Guard your driver and cargo well Send these pirates back to hell We'll show them the rolling war and they wont come here anymore Use your skills and use your head Fight til everyone is dead Raise your flag up to the sky How many of them can we make die? Event has started, time has come Move your wheels to the barking guns We'll win the race and pay the toll We'll drive as one in heart and soul Midnight oil, a tyres blown Fight to make this track your own Sound the horn and let rounds fly How many of them can we make die? Repeat first verse. |

At morning assembly Robert 'Chief' Price leads Bastille gang into the second verse "He pushed the pedal to the floor...", while Dan 'Fatal' Finley beats a cannon shell with a stick to keep the rabble in time.
Ruben 'Rain Man' Mickle has a habbit of getting a little too excited after the 1st chorus and finishes the whole song repeating the words "Gory, Gory, gory, gory-gory, gory, gore!" to the tune. Although not tradition none of the lads seemed to mind, infact it fired them up all the more. Price didn't seem to mind either for despite the noise, his pocket was growing ever thicker. ooc I don't think ya gunna here any harmonies like the cadet club from my mob. Thats quite a performance |

*JD_Basher* jd.basher@charter.net Posted May 31, 2009, 1:45 pm |
IT's.... Reveille..... The "wake up!" bugle call.
The second verse is this one... He mashed the accelerator, denting the floorboards The driver on his right pushed back, scratching his right door He cleared the turn in second place, but still he wanted more And he aint gonna drive no more! etc....etc.. OOC: Thanks for looking up the Anthem! I wish more would! stillstandingatsaluteJD |

======================== I must say, after hearing this song, we may have a duel as to which song should be the DW Anthem. March of Cambreadth Click on the above link... Mouse over "Her Music"..... Click on "Audio Samples"... Scroll down till you see the album "Midsummer" Then look for "March of Cambreadth" and click it to hear the audio of the original song. Remember to have a second page opened showing the re-worded version here, and follow along with the song. NICELY done with the new lyrics! JD |

I weep every time I hear this and read the words....

I know, I wrote the other song but, I must admit...... This one beats mine all over! I need to find "Cambreadth" with no vocals so I can record me singing it! |

HATI, do you agree? | ||
*JD_Basher* jd.basher@charter.net Posted Feb 1, 2011, 1:53 am |
HATI?
The Norwegian Wolf? Do you mean THIS?: In Norse mythology, Hati Hróðvitnisson (first name meaning "He Who Hates, Enemy") is a wolf that according to Gylfaginning chases the Moon across the night sky, just as the wolf Sköll chases the Sun during the day, until the time of Ragnarök when they will swallow these heavenly bodies, after which Fenrir will break free from his bonds and kill Odin.
