Engine sell values?

I have some 1.8L, and 2.5L engines in Somerset. Since Jakes doesnt have any in stock, shouldn't he be offering me full value for them? I just noticed a few minutes ago that every engine I have is discounted do to overstock. Am I misunderstanding how the economy works?

I had the same problem, dear customer.
You are effectively pointing out something that is not working very well in that situation.
We hope you appreciated the good bargain we offered by the time you had the deal with us. ;)

I just took another quick look at Jake's and Arizona's.
Not sure what's the range between a "must have" and "over stocked" item, but here are my comments of what should they should be:
1) if stock equals 0, buying price is +20%
2) below 2 (<=2) items in stock, we are offered 10% over normal value
3) normal price below 5 (<=5) in stock.
4) regular -20% up to 20 in stock
5) super cheap discount for the mechanic over 20.

Should much more balanced on players side.

Mamba- yeah, something's not right there. Will check later.

Vikking- it's not as simple as that, I have built in different rareness factors and also the amount sold in the recent period is taken into account for each item so see if it's overstocked.

I figured what was happening with the 'overstocked at zero stock' thing, btw. Whether it's overstocked is related to consumption over the last couple of weeks, and in Somerset we're in the strange position where consumption has actually been negative. This will change when income comes more from deathrace prizes etc. and not just from selling looted stuff.

What I'll do in the meantime is set a minimum consumption level as being some small positive figure. Won't get a chance possibly until Monday though..

I figure this is also because we are rather selling stuff to Jake, than buying?
