You are mentioning it twice in the text and it feels redundant. Something around the natural capacity to adapt to an evolving environment would have been better I think. Humans do survive, because they do adapt.

Actually, I mention humans as being clever, not intelligent.  A subtle difference.  Cleverness is more a native cunning or a show of superficial skill rather than high intelligence.

One thought is that there were a couple of moments where I thought a screengrab would make a great illustration (like the ruins of Lost Oasis, or the graveyards in several places). On your voyages through Evan, maybe you'll find some perfect screenshots to complement your words.
