This is part of a project to add a difficulty level indicator aside tracks description, in order to help new users to figure how difficult is driving on a given track.
It is obvious, it's based on a combination of player's experience, as well as character's driving skill.
When voting, please try to be as neutral as possible, and to recall when you just joined Darkwind!  ;)

Racing difficulty: very difficult
Deathrace difficulty: almost impossible

Watch out for the figure 8 cross-over - its a dusey!! Many a racer has lost his/her life at that intersection. Oh yeah, and if you survive the cross-over, don't get too comfortable because the bottleneck canyon right after it is pretty risky too! :)

Racing difficulty: slightly above average
Deathrace difficulty: slightly above average

My favourite track, since I enjoy watching people die here. Of course, it's one of the more challenging tracks, but once you know how to drive on it, its pretty alright.

I really hate this track.

The second have isn't too bad, just remember that you can't keep it floored throughout, it's too narrow.

The crossover is the killer here (literally). I've taken to braking if a collision looks imminent on the theory that, in order to have even a chance at winning, you must first survive. Dead drivers/cars win no races.

Suggestion for sadistic track designers; If you're going to put in a deadly track feature, how about an option? Even an expensive (in time or risk) option. A long off-road detour, a jump, something.

If it's sadism you're looking for... I always thought it would be cool to have some cliff-side parts to a track too. Places where you could try to shove each other over the edge.

planned, it is planned, but... this is a secret!

What? I goofed? :stare:

Ok, perhaps I didn't make myself perfectly clear.  I'll try again.

I was asking for a _less_ sadistic option.  That's LESS.  As in "NOT AS sadistic".  An option that's "NOT AS deadly" as your 'cool' idea.

Is that a bit more clear?  :)

Seriously, I don't have a problem with the crossover or your cliff idea.  I'm suggesting having the option of a different risk.  There are folks who aren't looking for (as much) blood.

what? a cliff wouldn't be enough deadly? a cliff alongside a volcano would be better? sure we can do that too.

We got your name ralphy, we are watching you.
:p

Seriously: I got your point, sure. We must be sure AI can handle it too.
Please note that you are not forced to race on a track you don't like, or fear.

I love this track, because of how deadly it is. Nothing in the Dark-wind world beats just missing someone in the crossover only to have them get drilled by the guy chasing you. Well, unless you count driving a van the wrong way into head-on traffic. You had to be there for that though. B)

MANIAC!!!

sorry just had to get that out of my system (WAS there :p)

This track gets alot easier when u get over your fear of using brakes (oi! it's not a dirty word, stop looking at me like that)
Kamikaze entries into the 2 sharp turns on this course is just asking for trouble...
Timing the crossing is critical as well...

Many Toecutters died to bring us this information ;)

I love this track, I started on it, and my drivers survived Deathraces.
Thanks to fogrod for helping BTW.

The crossing is really scary, and you really need to be lucky.

Racing: Dangerous
DeathRace: well ALOT more dangerous. Like there wasnt enough ways to die on this hell spawn of a track

I love this track BTW.. I have grown accustomed to surviving on it and havent lost NOT a single guy\chick racing it.. I did get banged up several times though

only suggestion to beginners on this track is 1..Braking is your friend..2 BEWARE of the 2nd lap\3rd lap of the intersection.. Everytime I race someone dies or looses an engine crossing it.

Last night: I saw the most horific crash ever in that intersection.1 NPC that T-Boned another and the T-Bonee got hit dead on in the driver side door and was an instant death. You dont see too many of those. People die , that is true, BUT from a single hit LOL. The other NPC, hereforth known as the
T-Boner(Lol) lost his engine, caught fire, and rolled into that field.. Might of knocked him unconcience as he never took any actions after that.. Scary

in closing: Great fun track when you get about 4 to 7 players.. The more the better. The chance of one of our guys going to a funeral is also greater hehehhe

I quite enjoy this track. Mostly because I've only ran it a few times and I have come first twice and would have come 3rd but too much oversteer on the final corner meant I actually went inside the finish line gate thus had to spin it round and cross the line the wrong way ending up in 7th instead...

This was in a DR too. BUT they were in Marleys and that other newbie car. I found once you know what speeds to take the corners if you can get out ahead you can get a big lead. OK, this was against NPC cars - not sure the result would be the same with the likes of Ironblood playing though would would use the x-raods to 'further the cause' I suspect. :)

Racing: Standard (as long as you try to pre-empt what's coming).
Deathrace: Experienced. I can imagine this would get nasty with well armed vehicles.

I had the best DR of my whole DW career (so far) yesterday - Somerset Rally Circuit in Porcupines.

The weapons came into play at the hairpin, meaning the crossover ended up covered in mines and tyre spikes.

It wa total carnage, I won driving on rims (hit a few tyre spikes, but no mines). SanktP wasn't so lucky. He hit a mine a few corners before the end which turtled him. As most other cars were dead, as soon as the remaining cars passed him, he sent his peds out the car and ran for the line, almost making it before the server closed.

Great fun though.

It's also really good fun in vans.

How about a concrete wall with a gap just wide enough for one car? Though that could be a problem with cars that carry mines..

I also really love this map for Deathraces.

The twists and turns after the crossover really let you weave and dodge and try to avoid getting shot. It's one of the more exciting tracks, one that doesn't lend to safe/boring tactics like "hang back, then overtake later".

Also very fun to race in extremely fast cars.

I'll second the, "Fun to race in very fast cars," bit. It's one of my favorite tracks, to be honest.

Best track ever :)

High speed in the valley in a vampire is a thrill unmatched in DW :)

The crossover is paved on the blood of Panther's race drivers. Favorite track, and by a large margin the one where most of my drivers died.

My favorite track, especially in the 1L variants. Easy to race apart from the crossing/hairpin/crossing area but otherwise you can just drift almost all the other turns no problem.

Its not THAT hard once you get the hang of it, but more importantly, Sam, ViK, Were is that track with a dangerous small crossover with lava pits... oh wait!

(Firefly skips of to the editor to start on a second track, mental note, finish the first track you idiot)

On a side note, this track is great fun in a 7L Bus.

Great track. I think its more dangerous for racing (two chars dead) than a DR, because you can thin out the herd in a DR, and that figure-8 is murder because you can get T-boned at over 100 mph and get instant-killed.
Ironic, since SS is a newbie town and has the most merciless track... Welcome to DW! :)
