The patch that I put in last night has a few things in it:
1. Sound effects: GUI sounds, new lobby music, engine revving and driving, skids, crashes, weaponfire, explosions, ricochets. Unfortunately there's a bug I didn't have time to fix which means the weaponfire sounds don't work yet though (it only manifested itself when I moved to the live build, it was fine throughout my work on it the past few days). 2. New track: viKKing's excellent northern foothills track is now live. I currently have it listed as 'on probation' which means it won't turn up in league events, only in non-league ones. Maybe I should change that, since I narrowly missed the server weekly event spawn-time so it's not being used at all this week! viKKing, can you confirm that it's ok to use this track for all events? .. loads of lap record money to be made... ;-) 3. Vehicle skins: Joer's sweet new textures for the symphony, pickup and sunrise are now live. You'll see them being used in stock events and also purchasable from Jake's. |

Ok, the new track is now fully live, and will be used for league events too. Let me know if there's any issues! |

Also let us know if you notice anywhere where the NPC drivers take a corner badly or too slow.. thanks .. |

The only thing I noticed so far was I couldn't steer in the starting area. I was in the pole position, so this caused a few problems making the first little corner before the actual start line. |

Nice track! Some very precise technical corners, some big fast and loose powerslide corners. Good mix of elements and good flow.
My only complaint is a purely graphical one - it looks like an old track that the officials are desperately trying to keep open in the face of the encroaching sands - with somewhat limited success. I used to live on a barrier island where the only road out was the same way, actually. You'd be driving toward the mainland and there would be bulldozers and front-end loaders parked along the side of the road and huge towering piles of sand just waiting to get blown and washed back down onto the road again. Made you kind of nervous, actually. I'd reskin the cliffs with a sand texture instead of a rock texture, personally. Not every track can be in the bottom of a perfectly race-track-shaped canyon, you know... *grin* Edit Awesome, I found a picture of the Narrows! http://flickr.com/photos/paulstravelpics/56996079/ The ocean is on the left, and in the foreground you can see where the dunes were pushed across the road. The two piles on the right are man-made. Here's another I found, looks kinda like the north end of Ocracoke: http://129.79.22.9/north_carolina_2001/outer_banks/PA125679.html Again, notice the way the road has been obviously cleared. |
