Pedestrians are now available in the npc-v-npc wilderness events. A lot of the extra code is related to escape, resignation and deciding when the event is over, so keep an eye on this stuff please when testing! We need to make sure it?s all working right before opening up peds to ?real? wilderness events.

Did the event with peds and it went great. NPC Peds had weapons and ammo and worked pretty well.

One minor bug is that the team indicator did not appear above Peds sometimes. This may or may not be related to speech bubbles not appearing above peds?

No big problems though. Went pretty smooth. And it was fun!

I was able to enter a vehicle with an unconscious ped which probably is a bug.

One minor thing - the vehicle entry as a ped is a bit clumsy. If you have several similar cars (a few Evan Enforcers) nearby that are able to be entered you can't tell which one you're selecting from the list.

Npc-v-Npc wilderness events

I had a guy at 84% activity and his red bar was at 100%
when players enter a game it is a little slow ( adds about 30 seconds for their entry) but when players leave the game  , it times out every time .
A leaving player come back in and executed the turn

When your car Demo's maybe there could be a pop-up offering the choice to :

(a) fiight on
(b) get a  new car!
(b) exit car
(c) spectate
(d) leave server

The reason I suggest a pop-up is because of the variety of choices avialble and I strongly suspect that NPC vs NPC could be a big draw for newbs. The menu would speed the game up and clarify the choices available.

Re-assignment of new cars works fine - find the new car can be a bit difficult in a big bash

Maybe its better to click a car and choose "enter car"...?

pure genius. good for practice, too, and would make a new person jones to subscribe to "do it for real".

Thanks for the feedback.. I'm currently looking into a bug which is causing the gameserver to crash when pedestrians are removed from the event. It doesn't seem to be crashing the town events though, strangely.

Is there an ETA for full-on wilderness peds? Possibly soon after that crash fix? :) I'm hoping!

Hey Jan......
Take off the spurs.....
Hang up Sams Saddle......
Put a feedbag on his muzzle....
Brush him down and tell him how good a boy he is to take the hard riding you have been giving him.....

Give the poor guy a break!
Have you seen his "To-Do" BOOK?..... It's not a list you know...It is a full fledged book by now!

Sam has been very attentive to we players requests..... Lets not wear him out to the point of not wanting to do what he does so well!
I'm sure he will tell us of any info when he's ready to tell us.

No offense Jan...... You just seemed a bit pushy lately.
Jansan

Sorry, seriously not trying to be pushy.

Just enthusiastic. Honest. I've been waiting for this since day one, and the testing has gone so well, I'm just excited to play.

He has been great about being attentive to player's request, I know he has a lot on his plate, and if I'm annoying him, I'll gladly chill. Sometimes its hard to tell how you come across without an outside view, so I do appreciate the heads up JD.

I can assure you, I never intended to come off pushy or rude.

No, I can't speak for Sam in this case......Just an outside view of how I would feel.

Enthusiasm is great Jan...... I understand that.
I've NEVER known you to be rude Jan.... in game or in posts.

As attentive as Sam is, he gets one big hurdle done.. then tweaks it for a month to work out the bugs... tweaks for another to make the rest of the players happy ...... and then along come the requests for "how about this or that" "can you-----Can we".

Poor guy has a full time job, family AND Darkwind!....

Jansan, I meant no insult to you and I'm not Sams keeper, but, Vikk did have a point when he said he was tired of seeing all the requests to 'tweak this or that'. One developer can only make 1000 people happy so often before it gets tedious.

Keep the ideas coming Jan...... Just keep in mind Sam is the only one doing what we players want.

I certainly have to back up JD on this one (not that u've been rude or pushy Jansen) but in that Sam's got a HUGE work load ahead of him. Me? i've been quite happy with the continued upgrades in features so far, they can't have been easy o.0

Kudos to Sam and the lads for finaly atleast giving us a taste uf what peds hold in store for the future.

LOL what a rush it waas to see if my char would make it out of a DR on foot or not heheh

I think its good that this time we have a no risk environment to test it out. Since this is a big change we should let it go in NPC vs NPC events to make sure everythings alright.

Yeah , its nice to be nice
Dont p**s off the developers - this has already happened elsewhere.... :(
This is part of the slide toward the ' eternal september' that Aloca spoke of.
The personal rewards for this work are very slim.
We have to be part of Sams vision - not the otherway around
Make suggestions that add value  and where possible reuse code

There is one event that is messed up and has been for a couple days; The Darkwind vs. The Avengers. That event will time you out for sure.

did i miss something or is that what you guys were giving jan a hard time about? mentioning a bug? that's not what i would call whining for tweak. bugs, even minor ones could be serious. what if it didnt display the team because a bug made it get confused whos team the ped was on? what if this was never addressed and you found out when it was your character that vanished?

sheeeeeeesh, lighten up, people...

anyway, originally replied here to post that i did part of one of these events and it crashed half way through. don't know how to retrieve the event id.

Don't worry, I always know about gameserver crashes... the master server emails me about them. There seems to be 2 separate problems with peds that are currently causing a crash.

BTW: I wasn't taking any offence to Jansan, it's clearly enthusiasm, and I have to be pleased for that, not annoyed :cyclops:
