I use PlayOnLinux on my Linux. Same people make it. It's good.

Well - after trying to d/l the iso for xp, no luck :(

I need to shoot some things, but will have to wait until I can get some old hardware available again...

What happens when you try to run it/what error are you getting?

You may have to play around with the Wine version, and you may have to install a separate version of steam in playonmac.

Sometimes I've had to use a way older version of Wine to run an older game.

Honestly, if you jonesed bad enough, you can buy almost any old thinkpad (think $150 - $200) and throw on a free linux to play. Darkwind actually works better on Linux than Windows, across a few different linux distros (Mint and Manjaro).

If you go the linux route Manjaro is decidedly simply, but I hear Mint may be simpler. For amount of software that works with turning on the AUR, or community repositories, I pick Manjaro (easy Arch) all day.

But just to let you know, for DW, I use a Steam/Steam runtime directly on the Linux system. No playonlinux for that one.

Okay - will keep that in mind! Just got in off the road and the win7 iso d/l was SUPER fast - so I'm installing that via UTM for Mac and we'll see what happens... Hopefully my next post will be from it. :-)

I'm copying over the d/l darkwind complete folder - taking a while - but hopefully it will run!

well that didn't last long...

I found an old MacBook Air - had to find a cable for it... Can't get the site to load in the browser (bad gateway) but I can get it on my main machine, then play on that one... just launched an SS scout now...

Was it a 502 bad gateway?

Check if the Macbook Air is headed to the https site, and clear the cookies for that site, then try again. I believe a 502 Bad Gateway isn't your computer's fault.
