Gang workshops.

So, in a nut shell, you pay money and your gang get a workshop in a town.
One does not cover all, you need to pay for every town you want one in.

You CAN'T BUILD ANYTHING, but you CAN tear stuff down and if you have a mech above X (this needs to be thought about) you can repair stuff (again, depending on mech skill) on your own dime, (free or reduced cost, , this also needs to be thought about) provided you have the bulk goods required, EPs, CPs, Scrap Metal, etc...
NO REPAIRING ENGINES AND WEAPONS AND STUFF below a certain point, maybe like 2 or 3 % damage? Light stuff.

It's kinda dumb that you HAVE to send things to camp to tear them down....

Tearing stuff apart is EASY....If you have kids, YOU KNOW THIS FOR A FACT...putting stuff back together is the tough part....

Thoughts?

I always thought a good mechanic would always be more valuable to a gang in the garage rather than sending out every scouting mission. That's more a journeyman skill level.

Did this get considered?

It would be a nice intro to the benefit of camps without having newbs (or oldz like yours truly) burning the grown-ups mech points just to recycle some otherwise worthless loot. If the build and running costs used the same game engine of the camp version it shouldn't unbalance things (and possibly be easier to implement as you could maybe recycle the code).

It would be nice if mechanics could improve slowly over time maybe as a function of the repairing you actually do (if you are subbed) representing the work experience gained.

Currently all the good mechs are effectively under the control of camp owners (and those are a small percentage of the game community). As it is virtually impossible for a new player to get a camp of their own (due to cost, availability and territorial constraints) that aspect of the game is effectively locked (I am not sure even with my 10+ million I could get even a tiny camp if I wanted one).

Running a camp outside one of the towns isn't profitable if you are just doing mech work and not everyone wants to run a factory (or engage in camp wars).

I have a small camp in BL with excellent resources that is fully built that I would be willing to sell if you want one. Roads to both BL and GW. Didnt want to hijack your thread but wanted to offer it.

Hi Longo.

Thanks for the offer, but I am not good enough for BL, my life is noob triangle :)

I literally only want a mech shop to repair and scrap. My guys maybe good enough to fix armour and maybe add a few points to a MG, but decent loot is wasted on them (from both a repair and use standpoint)

Out of interest when a map hex says it is controlled by a faction (even when it has no camp) does that mean it is unavailable to anyone else to build a camp on? (e.g. hex 18,8 just next to SS doesn't appear to have a camp but the hex is controlled by the Kingdom of Longo)

Correct.
If you want to build, I would wait until the end of the game year, when tile decay happens. There are many more tiles available at this time. Also, ever 4 game years, there is a "Super" decay which opens a ton more hexes for building opportunities.
