be fun if we had a single elimination bracket playoff tournament type league 1 v 1 with whatever cr limit, of a player brought in car, till only 2 left and not always on the weekends, some of us have to work weekends, just an idea, but we have teams in leagues where alot of players join and dont shoot each other, this one you would have to shoot to win your 1v1 fight, be in wilderness or arena and whatever prize you decide.

Some kind of elimination tournament would certainly be interesting.

I did run an event like this previous:
"Announcing a Grand Event – the Evan Knockout, a Racing Tournament – a once in a life time chance (until the next time that is) to prove that you are the best racer in Evan. Keeping it simple to allow all players a chance to enter. All races to be done on one track with the same model of car. All drivers to have all driving skills under 49 and no driver specialism. No weapons - car or personal – are allowed, but all other dirty tricks whilst racing are ok. Anyone breaking the rules will be out, simple with no appeals. I’ve kept it simple and tough, so no crying that you didn’t know them. We even have a prize pot donated by me – First place gets an Osprey with a 5Lv8 engine, all mint with only delivery mileage on the clock. There will also be a brand new badge for the winner. Runner up prize is a Flail with a 3.2Lv8, yet again mint 3rd and 4th Prizes will be a Mint Moray 4Ls What more can you ask for……………. Please post your entry on the thread in the Dexters forum. You have 1 week from the date of this being posted to enter, closing date is 12 noon, server time on the 20/01/14. I will draw the 1st Round and post it on that day. First Events to be run during the week running 20/01/14 to 03/02/14 – depending on enough people entering that is – my decision. And the extra bonus is if you win a few events you have a chance in the race ladder as well. RULES: This will be a knockout event, each round being a race-off between two players - a race ladder event Each tie will be drawn randomly from the hat. Winners will go back into the hat to be drawn for the next round. Where there is an odd number, the last name from the hat will be granted a bye. Each Round will have two weeks (real time) to be undertaken. It will be up to each pairing to organize and run the event. I’m not going to police the events so it’s up to you to get it sorted. Where an event doesn’t happen for what ever reason, I will place the names of the losing players from the events that happened in the hat, and draw enough names to complete the round. Only players who have raced get to go through - harsh I know but I want people to put in the time to make an event happen. All rounds will be on the Somerset Junk Yard Track 2, using the Sunbeam over 2 Laps. Drivers to be limited to a maximum skill of 49 in all driving skills (driving, cyclist or trucker) as it's an open event for everyone. No driver/cyclist/trucker specialism to be allowed. Weapons are not allowed but all other dirty tricks, rams etc are in" |

Nice- was it a success?
I have enough time on my hands at the moment, so I will be running an event of some sort soon. It will be focused on 'newish' players with 49 skill caps, and take place over all 3 towns in the triangle. But how can I enforce this? And how can I stop the Elite players from entering? What defines 'Elite' anyway? Everyone wants to win- but if you CAN'T win- why bother? Leagues need to be leagues, as in different events for different skill levels! An up and coming Tennis player doesn't have to play Nadal and Federer every week! Who would bother watch an NFL game that ended: New England 172 : Crapsville 0 What's the point? New England have their league, and Crapsville have theirs- that's how competion works. If SAM wants new players to stick with it, he has to cater for them a bit more in LOTS of ways. P.S. I don't ever remember seeing as many new names as in the last couple of weeks. It's in EVERYONE'S best interest to lure them into the game a bit more? |

this was suppose to be suggetion for tournament type league not a post to catter to noobs, dont think you can win dont compete simple, but please dont post yer carebear crap for noobs on this post.
Brun Posted Nov 30, 2020, 3:56 pm |
Lol- Yep- that's exactly the kind of comment I was expecting! "carebear crap for noobs" comment for all to see is exactly the reason that after 5 years away, there was about 3 names i didn't recognise on returning! |

To be honest I don't remember the details on how this one went - if you search in the forums you should be able to find the posts from the time.
My events were open to all players that why I put the skill cap in place - I realise that a vet would probably do better than a new player but wanted them open to all. My wish was to try and get community lead events where a lot of players entered. I noticed that a ganger that Joel entered into one event and won it, went on to die with a HoF entry. Most of them went very well with a good turn out of both old players and new ones. @Darth - I'm not sure how easy it would be to get the tournament style event set up, I think it would need Sam to do set up work in the background that's why I ran my event the way I did. It would work with all the ladder events. |

How about one where we all dress in our favorite Care Bear outfit (my favorite is grumpy) and blow the turds out of each other with Gatling shotguns?
Winner gets a special Care Bear skin for all their gangers! My daughter likes the one with the rainbow on her belly. |
