I know you already put a lot of work into this but it seems to me there would be more involvement if ANYONE in town could scout with a flag for a local camp (in that town's region) and success would net that camp CONQUEST POINTS.

Example: Player A scouts out of SS for Pit Stop, PvP open, flying the flag. an alert goes out to the lobby to other players allowing them to prep a squad to oppose him. No opposing player responds to challenge and so he Draws AI. wins and destroys 325 CR worth of cars. Pit Stop gets 325 points

2nd Example: As above but someone responds and a PvP battle ensues. Player a vanquishes his foe and destroys?defeats the same 325 CR. since it was PvP he gets 3x or 5x or some fair boosted number for it being PvP, in Conquest points for Pit Stop.

at the end of the cycle Pit Stop and other camps can then "Deploy" the conquest points they gained that week to hexes adjacent to other hexes controlled by the camp to try to control them. There should be some minimum, some time degradation. some randomness. Maybe some calculations similar to RISK or Axis and Allies or whatever where 100 points vs 200 points means 100 rolls to hit, vs 200 rolls in defense.

I was working on a game at one time where you rolled 12 sided dice for combat. 1 per "unit" and (example) on a roll of 4 or less unit A "hit" and defender did the same. then all hits were applied as damage and units were removed and the next round started. The units had "hit points" (in a way, exact details not important here) and some defended or attacked better than others. or better vs certain opponent mixes. and you kept rolling till a side was destroyed (or retreated)

this could use some sort of "power" factor. "Tactic" or "Strategy" rating based on gangers in camp... skills maybe? to reduce luck effects or increase odd of winning. Not sure how but just an idea.

I think opening it up like this would allow players not in a camp to participate.

DRAW NEW PLAYERS In or pull some off the fence and reduce the "where did my BPU go? i'm not even involved in a war" issues.


--And isnt increasing involvement and competition one of the goals?


but again, I know alot of work has gone into this already so maybe this isnt even possible or would just scrap everything. So I understand if we are already too far down the rabbit hole to come back out for air till the crying is done

I see how this could be exploited by 2 players pre-planning fights.  but if that could be prevented this seems like a fun idea to me

Interesting ideas. One of the design goals of the system was to minimise time consuming aspects where possible. A risk here is that it would force participants to run lots of scouts.

or perhaps have a system like this running parallel to the current one?

For me the "time consumption" comes from waiting for my opponent to find the time, waiting for the required notification time to let him prepare, and the need to go out of my way to accomodate the playing of a fight. Granted part of this is because we are a diverse set of players with varried schedules in the real world piled on top of us living in something like 3 very different time zones (you guys over near GMT, us in the US, and those over in Australia and NZ).

One benefit of this would be for non-involved combatants to not lose their stuff when the stop by camp during a travel, process all the travels, and when they get up the next day find out thier car arrived and poof got stolen. Or broken. This just happened to me too, just days after losing cars! Stopped at camp during a travel and now Poof my mint Buccy is 80% chassis and cant be fixed. im like UGH! Cant even get my gangers out of camp because every car I send gets broken or stolen.

Which... I can just fire them no big deal. But this DOES NOT cause people to go "cool! I want to get involved in summa that action! I'm Leet!" its mor like a kick in the teeth leaving people asking "why do I bother trying?"

I said this before carful what camps you join and becarful who u scout with. Simple.

If you keep losing stuff sending it to a camp stop sending stuff.

And I’ve mentioned before that the people who you think have minions, were actually MY minions.  The camp in question wasn’t one that I joined.  It was one I purchased for $27 million.  So in effect, the current owners were the ones who “joined” with the exception of Krak who was my 3rd in command and a 20% investor in the purchase.

Back
