Hey,

I'd like to help out with the development of the game. I've got modelling skills (with Lightwave only though), and I've done mapping for Doom 3 before. I'm also alright with photoshop, since I've done forum avatars before, then later moved on to texturing for games. I've also got very limited scripting knowledge (not coding, but scripting), meaning I'm not bad with scripts along the line of Flash and HTML that sort of thing.

I'd like to help out because this is turning out to be one of my fave games. Only problem now is that I'm a little hectic these few days. Gotta settle some stuff with my National Service, and also working on some other mods atm (mainly with Jedi Academy, but starting on a new Doom 3 mod soon). I'm also looking for a part time job too. I may only be able to dedicate about an hour a day at most on this though. Nevertheless I'd still like to help out :)

Cool mate, thanks for the offer  B)

I'm discussing some possible HUD and website graphics improvements with djfou right now.. I'm not entirely sure what should be done to these, mind you. Which is why you haven't heard much from me dj  :p  Maybe some of you guys could suggest or discuss this...?

The in-game HUDs for example are alright-looking (ok, very simple, just semi-transparent) - they could look great if they were turned into rusty looking hunks of metal or something, but in losing their transparency would they actually hinder gameplay??

Also there's another guy hopefully helping with additional vehicle texturing. But even more additional vehicle textures and also character textures would be a great thing, if you'd be willing to have a go. I have someone else (Paul Smith - not an active player currently) texturing and animating the cyberpunk characters for me ATM, but the more textures the better IMO.

Regarding characters.... what might be great would be lots of additional face textures in particular. These could then be displayed on the website and maybe beside the speech bubbles in-game. They would have to be similar to the faces of the character models I have been done by Paul...

These are the cyberpunks by the way. Currently they have no textures or animation:

Rusty HUD, why not, but yeah, the prob of semi transparency...
Can make it with 50 or 75% of opacity of course.. but textures will say good comps too...
So for the HUD...
For Site, why not, but, we've to discuss about this, i'll will be enjoyed to work with Karz ;)

Cheers,
Dj.

Karz-

I'm thinking face textures for sure. They could be used to dynamically overwrite the character's texture in the 3D game, as well as being used on the website..

OK, the dude in green can't have much done to his face..

What type of texture ? A one which will be UV Mapped (a Flat face :p) ?
Karz Master

Okay, that sounds fairly easy enough. Only thing is, despite my experience with modelling, I've never done UV mapping before, so I don't know how to uh create UV maps. I'll need a base to start with first ie. outline of the map

We could actually have the top of the window take on a rusty/metallic texture, while the window itself is a translucent grey

Lol what a coincidence. Metal/rusty textures are my forte too, thanks to my time with Doom 3!

We'd be looking at uv maps that Paul had already created. So basically the character texture would be the template, and the face would just need to be painted over. To make the flat version of the face for the website, I guess the easiest thing would be to grab a render from inside the game or 3dstudio.

RE rusty metal - interesting... maybe you could talk to djfou about it?

The texture maps I've created from the uvw mapping I applyed to the characters are very easy to work with for editing faces. heres an example (largely scaled down from original - originals are 1600x1600 res but will be scaled down later) The base is just a snapshot off the uvw co-ords on the model and the finished texture is painted over it.

first the base:

next the finished texture:

Should be a simple job to edit face textures from there....
